This ost takes me back to a time where everything was so much simpler. Nothing to worry about besides grinding before the next gym. The nostalgia hits really hard as someone who just turned 30.
I just turned 24 and yeah this hits pretty hard. I'm starting to understand what this whole "Human" life thing is all about... that cycle of growing up, losing track of time, and suddenly coming to term that the world you remember no longer exists. All that remains of these blurry images and moments I remember of playing Pokemon with my friends at the age of 8-10, is the distant echo of these music compilation videos and comment sections we currently find ourselves in. Time and circumstances separated us, went to different schools, and just like that we never talked again. Had no time to think about it because now I was just starting high-school, and out of nowhere we weren't 'kids' anymore, and playing Pokemon wasn't viewed as cool, and there the social anxiety began. Then it became cool again in grade 9 and 10, and in came another sweet period of my life that I didn't quite appreciate or cherish enough. Before I knew it I barely even had time to breath or think about this stuff; I must keep my head down and chew on my little piece of grunt work. I've realized I'm now stepping away from my youth, seeing more and more people younger than me the with each year that pass, hairline started to recede, etc. If this hits so hard at 24, I can't possibly imagine how devastating a video like this will be when we're 60-70. Stay strong people, we're at the core of human life right here and we're all in this together, this biochemical cocktail of hardships and nostalgia that evolution kindly prepared for us. Cherish the good things about your present, they can evaporate overnight. And if you're young and going to school, and hating it, focus on the friends you have and little moments you share, eating lunch and chatting together, etc.. Trust me when I say you'll be missing school dearly after a couple years once you're out. It's never the homeworks and annoying parts you remember, only those enjoyable little moments you had with your friends or classmates, eating lunch together, commuting, talking about whatever random bullshit came to mind, etc. I never realized it because I was so focused on the bads of school, but computer science in college might've been the best time of my life, with all the funny and interesting characters I met, the dynamic social environment, all the like-minded people with similar interests. In the end, only 2 of those acquaintances really stuck and became long-lasting friends. All those relationships, gone in the wind just like everything else. You're in the midst of it, and the next day it's all history and already a distancing souvenir. And you don't notice it, because with every large transition like this you always think about what the future holds next rather than what you've just lost to the past.
@@nuckm leave the past alone. It doesn’t exist. Memories are delusions. Embrace now, tightly enough to warm the moments, and softly enough to let them pass when they mean to. Most of all, find a way to live in your body, not your head.
I know how it feels, bro. I just turned 28 a coupple of months ago and that nostalgia hits as you said. But you know, I am thankful I could play both Ruby and Omega Ruby. They were my last Pokemon games. I don't have in mind to play the new generations because they are not the same Pokemon versions we used to know, and that's ok, because time flies and the new kids (and some adults) get used to the new ones as we did a time ago.
If not for my cousin, i would have never discovered pokemon the way i've done in this timeline. I saw her playing pokemon emerald and my reaction to it was.... well, the game left me amazed.
Hoenn... Where my journey of Pokemon began. Ahh the nostalgia and memories make this my favourite region of them all. Long story short, I've played pokemon since I was 5. My first mainline game was Emerald. It holds a true special place in my heart for the six years i spent living and breathing in this region. Everytime i listen to the Hoenn tracks it takes me back to my childhood
The Littleroot alternate version at 25:23 skips a few notes and it gives me the same sensation of when you're sleeping and suddenly you feel like you're falling
I was 6 when this came out. I remember not having the freedom as a kid to do what I wanted and getting frustrated. But in Pokemon I had all the freedom I could want. I wish I was 6, instead of 26, just for that illusion of freedom again
Pokemon Ruby, Pokemon Sapphire & Pokemon Emerald (they are 3 nearly identical games with minor tweaks) it released from 2002 - 2005 depending on the version, meaning that its pretty hard to play @@R.c.bgamer07
Slateport, Petalburg and Sootopolis were always my favorite then and now. I remember going back to those cities and just biking around while the music playing. Good times sigh 😂

I'm more a 2G fan but I've always thought 3G ost was one of the best in the saga if not the best : epic road themes and each city has a memorable music in its own style (nostalgic and peaceful for Verdanturf, joyful for Slateport, chill for Rustboro...)
I love ALL of the gen 3 music. It's my favorite out of all of them. The battle themes are all solid, especially the rival one, and the city themes have the same unforgettableness of the first 2 gens, but with that much better sound quality, it's the perfect balance that hasn't been reached since.
Seeing this map makes me feel... Bittersweet. Hoenn is Peak. But its so far in the past.... Then Slateport starts playing: How can you not be instantly filled with joy upon arriving in Slateport! So much journey behind you, so much more ahead..... When is the next Pokemon game coming out? It has to be an Emerald remake this time right? .....Right?
8:34 ah back when I was ten around (2014 or 15) and played Pokémon on the emulator (my first time was playing pearl on the ds) a couple years later I started collecting Pokémon games (authentic ones ofc) and as of rn, just need Sapphire for the gba, soul silver and white two for ds, red, silver, and crystal for gbc, ultra moon, and alpha sapphire for 3DS, and let’s go eevee and shield for switch. And I only had two copies of pearl at the start of my collecting spree. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk 😊
I started working nightshift 9 months ago, and after a while of just constantly listening to music I thought was cool.. and movies that never helped my mind be at peace.. I randomly thought of Pokémon, and thought of listening to Gen 3 town music specifically,. And let me tell you the stream of happy memories and peace just came flowing! I really miss my middle school days where all i worried about was homework, and going to bed early. This really helped me stay calm and reminisce in those happier years of being young and carefree~ I turned 28 about 4 months ago,, Being an adult sometimes just overwhelms me this is all I can resort to, listening to songs that reminded me of my fun childhood years, to have some peace and happiness. Cause even video games cant do it for me anymore .. SO THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS
I'm sure every city and town theme reprise that kind of... uhhh i just can't find a word for it. It's like you belong to your own hometown. The welcoming nature, the warm, the cry.
Gen II (g/s/c) ending is the best ending music imo, and route 26/27 is the best route music, also has some of the best bike themes and the best rival one. Gen I (r/b/y) wild battle, hometown, gym/gym leader and elite four are one of the best and have that 8-bit feel, the bike theme is maybe the best one. Gen V (bw/b2w2) has one of the best elite four themes as well. Gen VIII (Sw/Sh) has some great music overall, gym/rivals are some of the best, and the best legendary music (Eternatus 3rd phase). I don't like Gen IX (S/V) music that much but grunt theme is the best in the series imo. Gen III (r/s/e) has the best all around and is also the most unique and with more soul, the trumphets theme and stuff. Best hometown music, one of the best wild battles, gym battles and elite 4, and the absolutely best surf theme by far.
This music is very touching to me.. growing up I spent HOURS alongside my brother playing this game together, me on my game boy and he on his, we trained our Pokémon together, traded Pokémon just so many precious hours. I will forever cherish those moments of our childhood. Time passes so fast..
If my future self could watch and remember this comment, I hope you're alright and safe👍. But man, Nostalgia hits hard, even though I played this using and emulator, my first try was almost the same with most people *where I try to learn the story and not the combat* I actually finished the game 4 years later when I decided to play it again *I fought secret boss steven in meteor falls in emerald, catch all of the Regi's pokemon, etc...*
Me too, kind of… I’m in a lot of physical pain right now so I’m using the nostalgic association to give me the feel-goods. Otherwise I would almost never seek out sentimentality. It sucks the life out of the rest of the world.
Hoenn region is the first region I explored when I was 5 years old ( 11 years ago ), when my Cousin gave me a Pokemon Emerald, I repeatedly played it for over 5 years then having been busy but that Nostalgia, especially for me in Lilycove City, I liked the serenity of music of that. With jumbo size of stereo of music makes boom bastic ( ballastic ) to listen. It gives me goosebumps til today.
Miss this feeling. First pokemon game I play on my first phone.. Still remember having hard time passing certain part due to the level.. Grinding level, reading the stories. Wish I can go back to that time..
