Pokémon Yellow - My First Gen 1 Hardcore Nuzlocke! (No items, No overleveling) 

Bulbasaur Lady: "I don't think you're a kind enough trainer to trust this bulbasaur to." Flygon: *flailing around his dead Pikachu by the tail * "WHY THE HELL NOT?!"

For those wondering, you get the bulbasaur by having your pikachu in your party and it having high enough friendship. You also have to have a space free in your party. Since Flygon's pikachu died first, technically he would have never been able to get the bulbasaur.

For those that don't know, to get that Bulbasaur, you have to raise your Pikachu to max friendship. You can do this very easily by spamming potions on your Pikachu at full health, which won't waste the potion and will make it happier. Once your Pikachu shows hearts when you talk to it, the lady will notice how much it loves you and give you the Bulbasaur! Amazed I managed to find this out by accident when I first played the game, but I was a little silly kid that thought it was cute to try to heal Pikachu and watch it be happy that you tried.

The funny thing about focus energy in RBY is that it literally does the opposite of what it's supposed to, it basically sets your crit ratio to 0 so you can never get a crit.

Fun fact I learned from watching Scott’s Thoughts (who I highly recommend), your rivals eeveelution is based off of the first two battles with your rival! If you lose the lab battle, he chooses vaporeon. If you win and don’t do the optional battle next to vermillion, he chooses flareon. If you win and beat him in the optional battle, he chooses jolteon.

There's actually two Moon Stones in Mt Moon. There's one hidden near the Super Nerd that guards the Fossils. Just in case you decide to run Gen 1 again, this was a fun video~

Finishing Yellow without Pikachu feels like a mortal sin.

Also regarding the Bulbasaur, your Pikachu needs to have max friendship before she gives it to you. You can cheese it by repeatedly giving Pikachu a potion even if it’s at full health

In order to get that Bulbasaur, you need your starter Pikachu to have high friendship. And it is easily accomplished by spamming normal potions on your starter Pikachu when it's HP is on the red.

That bulbasaur ending. You either die a hero in a nuzlocke, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain in the end.

My first pokemon game was pokemon blue that my uncle got me for christmas the year it came out when i was 4 years old. Its actually one of my earliest memories and ill NEVER forget it, and what started my love for pokemon. This video was great to watch and very nostalgic! Keep up the great work flygon! And that god forsaken fainting cry from pikachu will forever be imbedded in my head, i think my pikachu only fainted once and i vowed to never let it happen again because it was so heartbreaking.. but enough rambling down memory lane, back to watching more flygonHG videos ❤

How Blue evolves his Eevee is based on how your battles go against Blue in the first two rival fights: the one in Oak's lab, and the optional one on Route 22. If you lose the first fight, the Eevee will become a Vaporeon. If you win the first fight but lose OR SKIP the second fight, the Eevee will become a Flareon. And if you win both fights, the Eevee will become a Jolteon. In case you should ever run this game again, hope it helps :]

First game was Blue Version as a 5 year old. It took me at least 5 different play sessions before I learned you could save your progress and didn’t have to start over every time like an arcade game

Pokemon Blue was my first game when i was a kid on the very first gameboy, the feeling i had when playing that game has never been met, such joy and imagination! the music is iconic and as soon as you started playing and the music kicked in all the memories and feelings of me playing Pokemon Blue for the very first time came flooding back, traversing through Veridian Forest for the first time, choosing my starter, Fighting Gary for the first time, priceless.

I started with Crystal back in 2015 by playing it online. I didn't finish it because I ended up forgetting my account but it has a special place in my heart, bonus points for the circumstances at the time

Pokemon Yellow is my favorite Pokemon game, and I've always wanted to see you do a "no calc no doc" run since I think you're better at coming up with plans on the fly than you realize (although I know you enjoy the calc aspect of nuzlocking). I don't know if you find out later in the video but for getting the lady' bulbasaur your pikachu needs to have massive friendship i think,so yeah she will never deem you worthy. Also to rub salt in the wound,you could've used a potion at max hp and even if it seemingly doesn't have any effect your pikachu friendship would increase anyway because gen 1 coding. Also first pokemon game was moon,yeah i arrived late in the franchise but i like it 16:40 idk how it works exactly,but it goes something like this. your rival' eevee evolves depending on what battles you do,if you lose or skip the first battle,the battle on the route near the league or the ss anne,he will have a different eeveelution,maybe you skipped the second battle near the league to thats why he has flareon but i'm not sure .

25:23 Due to Gen 1 crit mechanics, Razor Leaf from Victreebel is a near guarenteed crit, so it's pretty much always worth keeping the move on it over Solar Beam 31:45 You can also switch out of binding moves in Gen 1, the reverse of how they work in the modern era

The naming theme in this run is amazing and it took me until the elite four to get it but naming all your Pokémon after yellow things is amazing

Nuzlocking gen 1 is always a blast, you never know what's going to happen. Would love to see more of these or a nuzlocking through every gen challenge.

The jokes were very funny, great vid. I received all three Gen 1 games eventually, but if memory serves Red was my 1st game. Yellow ended up being my favorite Gen 1 game as a kid though. As you pointed out the color and sprite work was phenomenal.

Pokemon Red was my first Pokemon game. I found a strategy guide for Red/Blue at a flea market and begged my mom to buy it for me, then obsessed over the thing for at least 6 months before getting Red as a gift for my birthday. I think my mom thought I'd stop regurgitating Pokemon facts at every opportunity if I got it out of my system, but joke's on her; 25 years later and she's about to get an earful all about Scarlet and Violet at Thanksgiving. It really wasn't a phase!

As someone who did a poison only hc locke of RB, gen 1 is definitely very easy if you know what to expect. Especially some of the weird gym changes in Yellow. But if you don’t remember anything and know the various gen 1 quirks, it’s pretty interesting. Good idea for a run!

This was my first pokemon game. Ah the nostalgia. I rememeber beating that lvl 50 alakazam with my level 15 charmander. my previous pokemon posioned/confused alakazam before dying and he hit himself in confusion 3 times in a row with little charmander aslo chipping away at its health with his ember. . And Charmander grew instantly to lvl 18 and evolved. I really felt like a pokemon protagonist.

My first Pokémon game was Platinum, and was the one that got me into the series. I was 6, my parents were getting me a DSLite as a reward for swimming underwater for the first time, and I got intrigued by the cool box art of Giratina. The rest is history.

Amazing content as always! Pokémon Yellow was my first game as a kid. After my brother and I spent about thirty attempts of throwing our Pikachu at Brock’s team, our genius neighbor came over and taught us that Mankey learns low kick at level 9 and that Nidoran learns double kick at 12. It was mind blowing for us. Completely opened my world. Still love play Yellow from time to time because of all the great memories from that time!

I'm 23 but lucky me my brother was born in 1990 my first game was Pokemon blue on an sp, both his handed down from him cause he was playing emerald by the time i started XD. Ran through the whole game with blastoise because i didn't know you could catch more. I got to level 18 in viridian forest because i got lost looking for a pikachu to show my mom. My brother had pokemon blue and I vividly remember getting yellow as a birthday present and playing it nonstop at a family wedding. I used to charge kids on the playground £1 to catch the birds, mewteo, and to get lugia in gen 2. I remember how many kids were obsessed with pokemon - at the millennium party I went to a few of us kids were running around saying the fireworks were voltorbs using selfdrestruct. I never knew I'd be so interested in the games still, 25 years later.

Pokemon Yellow was my first game and Pidgeotto in the viridian forest was my first capture. I holds a special place in my heart. Pokémon Blue was my very first Pokémon game (I was around 6 when I got it) and I would always play up to Rock Tunnel and then just reset because I was too young to ever find flash. I honestly don’t think i completed it until I was 8 or 9 lmfao. I remember sharing new information with kids on the bus to school. Then I found the Mew glitch in Cerulean city and started charging kids $10 to perform the glitch and catch them a Mew. Man what a nostalgic memory you just reminded me of thanks FHG. And you know darn well I spent all that money on Pokémon cards

My first Pokémon game was yellow on the Gameboy Color. I also watched the anime too at the time so it was so cool to feel like Ash from the show even minus Brock and Misty. 31 years old now and still love this franchise as I did back then.

My first pokemon game was Crystal on my GBA SP, when I was just 3 years old. I could never forget my childhood starter Chikorita, and I happen to have also met my still favorite pokemon from 2nd gen, Dunsparce :D Crystal will always be my favorite game, and I still revisit it a couple times per year for different nuzlockes or pure enjoyment

This is awesome. I remember getting yellow as my first game when it came out, for Christmas. Called my friend next door on the wired home phone about how excited I was, and he got it too. I still have that same cartridge to this day, with my same save file, and my same lineup, all at level 100. I wouldn't sell it for almost anything.

I love these more relaxed runs just as much as the really hard and complex runs. It’s just nice

to answer that question, Pokemon X was my first *mainline* pokemon game, which was found completely by accident when I was shopping with my mom at target, didn’t fully get into it until a couple months later but i became obsessed with the series from that point on (for like a year at least)

Awesome play through! But for those who didn’t know, your rivals Eevee evolves based on win/losses early in the game. If I remember correctly: Losing to him at the Lab and left of Viridian City evolves Eevee into Vaporeon. Beating him both times turns it into a Jolteon. Winning at the lab and losing or skipping Viridian City makes it a Flareon. That may been verification tho.

“What kind of sadistic person would steal an Eevee off a table without asking?” I get it. Don’t think that slipped past me. I also forgot you get an Eevee off a table in this game.

Your videos are always entertaining and relaxing, I watched this video in parts while getting ready for work and breakfast and during my routine when I returned. Just so you know, while the pokemon nuzlockes you make are awesome I wouldn't mind if you occasionally made other kinds of content. It's your energy and voice that give life to your channel.

This was not only my first Pokémon game, but also the first game I ever played. My dad bought me this alongside my first game boy.

My first game was Red in 1999 and I since played one game at least of every following generation as well as Mystery Dungeon, Stadium and XD. Although my favorite generations are 2 and 3 the first one brings so much nostalgia, I had yellow as well. The 3rd versions yellow, crystal, emerald and platinum are my favorites. They added so much cool stuff to the already great mainline games in those 3rd versions Even if I play for 24 years now, all those Pokemon content creators and the Nuzlocker showed me many things I didn't knew as I am don't do Nuzlocks and play more casual and fill my Pokedex. Yellow was my intro to the world of Pokémon. The games got prettier, and there's way too many Pokémon nowadays to count but nothing quite captures the magic for me like this one. Cool video. Nostalgic
