ON THIS PART:
- Head to the Fishing Guru's house for an OLD ROD.
- Head to the Fan Club building for a BIKE VOUCHER that will be exchanged for a BICYCLE in Cerulean City later.
- Now, head to S.S. Anne. There are hidden items and Trainer battles there, including your 3rd Rival Battle. At the Captain's Room, talk to him and receive HM01 Cut.
- Leave the ship, and make your way to the Gym using Cut. Use Ground-types (preferably Diglett/Dugtrio) here to finish the Gym faster. There is a puzzle here. The first switch is random, and the second switch is always adjacent to the first one (25% chance of getting it right, 33.33% or 50% if in a side or edge).
- OPTIONAL: Battle the trainers in Route 15 for bonus EXP.
- When done with the Gym, head to Diglett's Cave, to Route 2 in the big building. Talk to Prof. Oak's aide to get HM05 Flash. Be sure to have 10 caught Pokédex entries.
- OPTIONAL: In a small house, someone is trading for a Clefairy.
- Head back to Vermilion, then back to Cerulean City. Trade the BIKE VOUCHER for a BICYCLE. (the video cuts here).
EVENTS OFF-SCREEN:
- Caught all Pokémon species on Route 6, and evolved some of them.
- Farmed for levels at Route 4 (east) up to Lv40 and for some Stat EXP (EV in later Gens).
