PokeMMO: I Don't Understand This... 

As a pokemon TCG collector I rather have a 1999 base set charizard than a reprint from 2022 same art work just different date. Nostalgia knowing its older.

I guess you already gave the answer yourself in the beginning of the video already: Collecting and personal enjoyment. It is the same reason why old Pokémon/ Yu-Gi-Oh!/ whatever cards or other things are expensive. They are old and have a limited quantity. There are always people who like to collect these kind of things. Either to keep them for themselves or show it off. That is, in my eyes, the plain and simple reason (other than flipping) for people buying these 2012 Pokémon even though they don't have their OT or are viable to use by any means. I understand your confusion as it isn't an economic and rational decision. However, I see this in (card) games all the time. Just looking at a pretty collection can be a great pleasure.

I'm new to the game but as someone that's played lots of games with markets I think you're overthinking it tbh. The fact is they're rare so people want them. That's it. It's like having 1st edition on trading cards, it's just a pointless stamp but there are less of them.

I sometimes wonder if the developers buy things off the market using spawns money to deflate the economy. Or if they have a script that automatically buys and despawns things. If they are I'm fine with it tbh.

Agreed. I don't understand why so many individuals play without purpose. Even shiny hunting just to collect in a box is egregious and pointless, The only shiny worth keeping is one you bred with usable stats to battle pvp or play through the game on a regular basis. Finding a shiny with usable stats is awesome dumb luck but unlikely for the most part but to collect completely useless Pokemon with a old time stamp because Pat said it was cool is beyond my comprehension. Followers...am I right?
