Blaine's Quiz #1 isn't as hard to guess right...well, late in a game anyway. It's legal to look at cards in either discard pile at any point in the game, so if the Pokémon chosen already has a copy in the discard pile, the answer is right there.

My friend had a Japanese Misty's Tears card. He called it "Misty's Teats"

I believe there is also a reference to Pokémon Gold/Silver on Brocks onix shirt, as you early on in the game can trade a Belsprout for an Onix nicknamed "Rocky"

Seeing this old card art and hearing the old Gameboy Pokemon card game activated some really old and dusty neurons. As a lonely and aging millennial, I am now sad from the nostalgia.

Man hearing the gbc pokemon tcg 1 + 2 soundtrack makes me wish we had a newer version. One that has different card set rules so you can play with older cards without conflicting with the newer ones; because even on the gbc the card artwork was amazing. Even without these easter eggs they look like a product of their time (like most 3d models) or pieces of artwork! So imagine all these details in HD and portable! I heard a rumor that the reason modern pokemon games look buggy and rushed is because the lacked time and/or they aren't interested in making pokemon games anymore. I can't say if it is or isn't without evidence, but a pokemon tcg on the switch would be a great way to make a new pokemon game while being something new for the team!

That Misty card was an absolute legend on the playgrounds of the 90s/early 00s. I was CONVINCED it was fake until some kid's dad went on a business trip to Japan and somehow brought back the holy grail.

This is fantastic. I love the detail you've gone into with each card as well like linking the cards back to the game where possible. Your quip about Doduo's missing head made me chuckle, too. Admittedly I've never really looked into the actual purpose of each of these cards in the TCG before, so I really enjoyed you reviewing those as well. Great job with both the narration and the animation! I can't wait to see more.

I used to do things like this when I was younger and actually play with the cards. I also appreciate you reading the card's effects and in some cases describing them in further details such as their history.

Another thing that makes it easier on Blanes Challenge 1 users is Pokemon tends to ban card sets after a few years. So it wouldn't officially be allowed to play again cards the E Reader or cards outside of the sets it's allowed to play with.

You know what's funny? Lt. Surge being part of the Gym Heroes's official expansion artwork, when he part of Team Rocket alongside Sabrina and Koga in the Adventures manga. Blaine also was a scientist for the organization, but stepped out after meeting Red. But he remains on the expansion art for Gym Challenges with Sabrina, Koga and Giovanni.

I decided since having a complete collection of cards is impossible unless you're a billionaire, that having a "Living Dex" of cards would be cool and that having an additional collection of cards that feature Pokemon that aren't the subject of the card - which you called cameo cards - would be fun, but I had a hard time finding a good list of cards that fit that description and gave up.

It's likely the jessie james clothing was lifted pre-show because they had no significance. Would make sense turning the outfits the opposite of black to show significance.

Classic cards with their cheesy artwork are better than anything that came out after 2000

5:07 Next to all the overpowered cards, this one is surprisingly horrible. A simple nest ball card is much better except if you can activate an ability by manually placing it on the bench.
