Japanese cards have always been cheaper. Japanese packs also had a guaranteed holo when I bought them as a kid.

My OCD would not allow multiple languages to complete a set. Which is dumb. But that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Great video though this was very useful!

That's fair especially if you play the TCG. For me, its less about the text and more about the art work

This is a very good point. Some of these modern English cards are so expensive. I thought I would want them all in English, but you're right. It is the same artwork, just a different language. A lot of the Japanese cards look even better.

It’s kinda out of control really on the modern cards, especially some of the chase cards are cheaper.

Going to echo with a few other people have been saying - if it’s a bout price, you might as well just go and buy Chinese cards. Eng 151 has poorer print quality which by virtue makes it a little more worth collecting in my opinion due to the lower PSA 10 population. Personally, if I’m going to invest my money into the hobby I might as well aim for both value and art.
@pokeboyztrading
@pokeboyztrading Месяц назад
I can get behind this point of view and value and money. You’re right the bare cheapest option is Chinese or other foreign languages. I think for the new or newer collector it’s far easier to find reputable English/Japanese Pokemon cards so that’s why I only compare the two.

When i started collecting again 7 years ago i got stuck in the loop of collecting only english cause of wanting to read it. I can tell you years later i cant remember any of the movesets thats on any card but i remember the art. Unless you play the tcg its not worth the price for the same exact art. Not to mention japanese has unique art only exclusive to japanese through their promos.
@pokeboyztrading

To be honest I just think you should be able to choose what you want to collect and not necessarily the popular chase cards. There isn't anyone who should tell you how to collect. Period. Do what you want.

Why i want english because their qc is not good as japanese, mean less card which get psa10 quality. Tat why diff in price.
@pokeboyztrading
@pokeboyztrading Месяц назад
That’s true the English quality is lower which then once you have a PSA 10 it’s going to be worth more. My viewpoint in the video was more from a collector perspective versus extracting as much value from your cards.

I feel like it's not the same card though. At least for me I would ideally like to have the collection in all the same language instead of a mix of languages. I guess it depends on the person though. It is kinda overkill, but if I had the budget I'd like to have a Japanese set AND a English set :P
@pokeboyztrading
@pokeboyztrading 3 месяца назад
That is definitely a fair point though for sure. Everyone's collecting goals are going to be different, I came from the perspective of budgeting and saving money, which is only one way of many ways to collect right? Appreciate your insight!

I used the Japanese cards as a metric because they’re more readily accessible, higher quality like you mentioned, and still desirable amongst the community. You’re right Chinese cards are cheaper but I think it will take a couple more years for them to become more mainstream. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s just how I see it at the moment.

These are the most widely purchased languages and it’s not even close. Finding cards in languages in the U.S. outside of English and Japanese is rather difficult, especially for beginner collectors. So all in all not as bizarre when you you’re realistic about the availability out there.

@mordredstein9553
@mordredstein9553 5 дней назад
@@pokeboyztrading It has been that way since my childhood when pokemon first dropped. This is especially due to how Japanese packs guarantee holos and American packs do not. While there are occasional exceptions, I am obviously speaking of the general rule, not the exceptions.

Best to collect for the purpose of enjoyment, and if price goes up, great. Avoid collecting for the sake of an investment. Pokémon cards may have price increases over time, but whether a sale actually happens is either a hit or a miss. Only thinking in investment terms could make you lose interest very quickly.

I do want to warn people that have never handled japanese cards before, i have owned pokemon cards in the 2000's and then started buying packs here in japan, and i thought the cards might have been counterfeit with how thin they were. They werent fake, theyre just thinner than english cards. I havent opened eng pokemon in over 10yrs so unless they changed as well, the japanese cards will feel very different in hand out of a sleeve.
@pokeboyztrading
@pokeboyztrading 27 дней назад
Having opened a ton of both English and Japanese, they’re comparable now in the feel of the cards. I will say JP for me has a smoother feel to the texture of common cards. Something to consider too is JP tends to be higher quality control in their sets as well.
@hotmegoi504
@hotmegoi504 26 дней назад
@pokeboyztrading really? I find the jp cards are too thin and refuse to use standard sized sleeves because i end up folding the top edges putting them in, even while being gentle. Also the pokeball holos are always plagued with grid marks that are unsightly.

Its not the same card as investor for more than one reason: -english are less printed, so less suply, higher the price -english are bad quality and harder to obtain a valuable card. So a psa10 will be extremely valuable Japonese are better in everything except in supply, because its too high and easy to obtain good cards

Yes pull rates will affect the price for sure, that’s why I showed examples that sometimes Eng prices can be lower than their JP counterparts. All about finding what you want for your collection and willing to pay for the same art on a card.
