Ah the memories of using Rufflet to fly to an inaccessible area so that none of my opponents can reach me so that I can let the turns end and successfully defend the castle without any effort at all. Good times.
Yeah, Avia is the most broken map in the game for fliers for that, if the defending team camps the top island the attacking side literally can't do anything unless they have 4+ move fliers and movement warrior skills.
I felt like a real emperor with this game. My character having his white armor and a 600+ power Espeon, which sat regally in its portrait picture. Kenshin and Kanetsugu with matching white armor/robes and a corresponding Gallade and Gardevoir. Two Hydreigons and Oichi with a Haxorous. The Empire of Aurora had risen. Fun stuff!
"There's no stopping me now!" "They don't know what they're doing." "It's Wing Attack time!" "I'm more than just a pretty face!" "May the best man win!" "It's Leaf Blade time!"
I remember the strategies I used when attacking or protecting Avia. AKA, staying at spawn area, and wait for enemies to come, then either A: attack full force, or B: get to a place they cannot get to.
It's not that the fight was hard. Having one of my party members completely incapacitated for a whole turn was just incredibly annoying, especially considering the jump tiles on the map which prevented me from getting people where they needed to be in order to KO the guy before he could use Sky Drop again. A lot of unnecessary legwork, that's what it was.
Czern Obog i usually just split the team to the right and the let then keep them away from the spots where the others will jumped down on then ATTACCCCCK :D
I don't like to miss any potential recruits so I always send my strongest units to hunt the enemy warriors as quickly as possible. I'm not one for cat and mouse.
Sky Drop was a pain to deal with, plain pure and simple... straightup getting an enemy to miss a turn... Also why does nobody except the highest-ups want to use their Perfect Link? Exhibit A Magoichi, seriously the Treecko line is infinitely better than Carnivine...
Perhaps they just lack the ability to find their perfect links. Larvestas are hard to come by so perhaps Okuni uses Venipede to make do until she finds a larvesta?
Personally I think that the Pokémon they use fits more the castle they’re from. When you get the chance to let them see the Ransei region they discover their favorite Pokémon
