In pokemon sun one of the first pokemon i found was a shiney. A magnemite. I didnt understand how rare they were, so im so freaking glad I desided to catch it 😅. I had it in a pc for a while until I saw how rare they were then I nevr put it back into a pc again

Shinies I caught in games Pokemon BW Lillipup in Route 1 Pokemon LeafGreen Persian in one of the Islands and a Spearow near the area to find Zaptos or something Pokemon Glazed Shiny Zubat and Sableye So in pokemon ultra sun and moon it is possible to get a shiny from the ultra wormholes if you go into a hole that has a lot of rings. I caught a lot of shiny poke im that game

Same, well in 2015-16 i thought it was a regular noctowl, but when i first played Pokemon GO, I remember catching Notcowl, but it was Brown, thats when it hit me and realized Ash caught a shiny

One of Ash's most underrated mons imo. Shame it got so little room to show its personality. It getting a great battle in the Sinnoh League shows it's never too late to come back and get some time to shine

@@Ice-fy3vk Well BIrd-type was the name Flying-type was supposed to have in Gen I, but since they figured out that not only birds can be Flying, they changed it to Flying-type for the official release. That's why most of Gen I Missingno.'s are Bird-type and they are the only ones to have that typing.

It used to always upset me that no one really commented on Noctowl being shiny because it was so cool to me. But as I got older the more I accepted it because, Noctowl to other trainers was just another Pokemon to battle and didn't have to exclaim out loud the alternative colors. That being said Noctowl is one of the reserves I'm kinda glad is still with oak because after sinnoh I feel it's played it's part. I'll be happy if it fully returns one day but for now. The most I want from Noctowl is at most a small cameo. It'll definitely stick out XD

I always wondered the same why no one made a big deal of Noctowl's shiny status after its capture as well. As much as I liked its comeback, I'd rather see other Pokemon who's story feel incomplete return instead (i.e. Bayleef, Totodile, Gible)

Noctowl was ash’s first fully evolved caught bird Pokémon. While it was the least used compared to others it’s shiny features helped it stand out a lot.

@@yugomtz3582 Yeah, he wasn't fully evolved when he was caught. Ash caught Pidgeot as a Pidgeotto, he evolved into Pidgeot when he got absolutely dismantled and obliterated by a wild Fearow.

Fun Fact: When I watched the episode where Ash catches Noctowl, I caught the 2nd half of it so I didn't see the scene where it stood side-by-side with a regular Noctowl for comparison and thought that Noctowls naturally had gold and red feathers and so I got really confused seeing it in games where it had the original color.

I doubt it. According to Bulbapedia, Ash had an opportunity to catch eight shinies and did not even try. In order, they were : a Shuckle, a Gyaradoss (caught by Lance), a Donphan, an Onix, a Druddigon (caught by Claire), a big Magikarp (granted, the window of opportunity was very small, but he could have tried to track it down after witnessing its jump), and a Phantump. He also did not try to catch the Crystal Onix who is arguably rarer than a Shiny considering the fact that it must be a unique mutation in the world...

I caught one in silver when I was a kid by the lake of rage ,thinking it was ashes nocowl because I just saw the episode a few weeks befor...I didn't realize it was also my first shiny as well as ash's..

This was a great early Christmas gift! I love Noctowl! Especially the shiny form. I wonder why Ash's was smaller. If it has to do with it's unique coloring or maybe it's young. I loved him in the anime and glad Ash had him. I loved how if took advantage of Foresight. I wish Noctowl would've been a Psychic/ Flying type but it's still good and I love using him in games (: Thank you for covering one of my favorite Johto Pokémon (:

I was so glad when Ash brought Noctowl back for the Sinnoh league, and it got a win! It was Ash's MVP against Morty, but that's about the only major win it ever got in Johto.

So I haven't played gold version since it came out when I was a youngster and I never realized Ash's noctowl who was shiny and now looking at the footage every time he throws it out the shiny glycerine is around the pokémon Great attention of detail man these shows were elite

I just caught a shiny Noctowl when I was running through Viridian Forrest last night in Pokemon SoulSilver. My first shiny in that game aside from the guranteed shiny Gyarados at the Lake Of Rage and it made me think of Ash's shiny Noctowl.

Not only it shows in the TV series the alternate "Shiny" variety, but also the size differences before Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and Pokémon GO mentioning the latter. This Shiny Noctowl is likely the Extra-Small (XS) variety, but has much more intelligence than the average Noctowl.

It bothered me that noctowl’s rare coloring initially didn’t reflect on its skills as a battler, but it’s return in Sinnoh debunks the saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Noctowl confirmed Ash’s reserves keep their battling skills sharp like a bird Pokémon beak

When I was a kid my first ever pokemon game was silver version and I caught a shiney hoot hoot my first play through. I didn't know that shineys were extremely rare, I just thought it looked cooler than the regular hoot hoot.

Sky attack first time failed and air slash also failed in first time but air slash worked in second time and extraesensory passed and worked in first time.we cannot see the sky attack performance wish we can see the noctowl sky attack power.

Noctowl the Shiny Ghost(type)buster. While not the fastest or strongest or most memorable of Ash's Flying types, it's definitely made a name for itself as a smart cookie and the very first real shiny in the anime.
