When you choose the different characters, they have different back stories and I hope that they continue to develop that when the game gets further in the plot.

My fav from Flux is definitely that bright orange Pokémon from the intro cutscene, or the ace of the final fight before the end of the demo. I used and loved both of them Edit: Do NOT sleep on that huge plant Pokémon- Daikongus- Terra has, guys. Grass/Fighting type with Huge Power, and it gets Leaf Blade/Drain Punch/Fake Out by level-up. It might look goofy but it’s absurdly strong imo

Honestly, Pokemon does not deserve these fans, all this rom hacks and fangames are miles ahead of the main games, and even Coromon leave me a little disappointed, even the fan games are better that all possible competition.

You said that Sluchuu is a Pikachu with a slug but ACTUALLY there is a REAL Pikachu slug and that's Thecacera pacifica, the Pikachu nudibranch/sea slug. You can say Shellos has become a sea slug Pikachu.

Just beat episode 1 and I liked asters partner, the water starter, zorua, the 2nd boss of the power plant, the owten line, and nidorime. (as a side note, power thief is busted)

Maybe you could try Pokemon Tectonic next. Pokemon Tectonic is rather difficult comparatively, and many pokemon have been rebalanced to be usable.
