I think scarlet and violet is definitely worth investing in not only because of the amazing artwork for the illustration and special illustration rares but also because of those extremely cheap prices you can get for a booster box.
Depends where you live. You're lucky if you are in the U.S. In Europe prices are different and also depends which series you buy. So it's easy to say. Where do you buy your booster boxes?
@@PokePond And if you are in Europe? Prices aren't that cheap atm. Maybe some series are. Where do you buy 151 English series for cheap if I may ask because I can't find any good places besides U.S.? Here 151 for example is expensive and also because a lot is sold out and there still is no reprint. So easy to say prices are cheap, but not all and even in the U.K. not that cheap. And I'm not the type who collects everything, costs way too much money if you do that and for most people that's just insane. And what even is cheap? I saw 151 booster boxes for 35-40 euro. Now they are way more. Sometimes an increase of almost 50%. That's not cheap at all if you know prices where way cheaper before. And there is also a lot of fake shit which people buy and hold on to and sell it later without them even knowing it's fake while paying a high price for it and screwing another buyer.
@@PokePond Oke. Yes I track the prices from U.S. too. But we have to pay shipping costs. so it will still be more expensive. Unless you are just talking about American prices for Americans haha besides a couple of series which are just cheaper..
Hi PokePond, thank you for the great video. If you don’t mind, I’d love to get your opinion on my Evolving Skies booster boxes, as I’m new to investing. I bought 2 BB’s, sealed with acrylic cases from a reputable seller, for $480, each, a while back. At what price point would you recommend I look to sell the product? I know that in a perfectly world, more wait = more return, but just wanted to see your thoughts on what you’d do in my situation. I’m not desperate for the money or anything, but not great at reading the market, like you. Thanks!
Everyones sell price is different, Some people will hold until the moon, some are ready to sell now. You do have one of the strongest sets on your side so I think holding would be fine. I would say you should sell when you are comfortable selling. Factor in 15% ebay fee, (this includes shipping costs). Personally though I wouldnt hold it over $1k, at 1k it prices alot of buyers out and alot of sellers will sell at 1k as psychologically its a nice number.
SV will get over reprinted as all the investors are buying stock. As it runs out, reprint! Buy out... reprint! In 5 years SV will be readily available on the second hand market. Still, im buying!
houndoom and horsea are my picks with the persian close 3rd. the SIRs look god awful tho like what? for sure getting singles not sealed for this set personally.
Realistically as someone that doesn't have the money to buy tons do you think a one trainer box and one or maybe two booster boxes would be enough to get most of the shrouded fable set? I just started collecting and im only interested in getting a set for a binder and a smaller set seems like a good first modern one to go for
Shrouded fable is a holiday set meaning it won’t have booster boxes. My advice would be to pick up a normal ETB on release then a couple of the booster bundles (6 packs £25) when they come out a month later.
He didn't answer your question so I'll give it a try. There hasnt been a set in recent memory where 2 booster boxes and one etb would be anywhere close to enough product to get most of the hits.

The easiest set to master from last few years is undoubtedly Obsidian Flames but it's not the most desirable set but if you absolutely love Charizard and really much more interested in mastering a set than collecting random singles then OF might be worth a look. It's low popularity atm likely means cheaper and more affordable product to rip for the foreseeable future. I have not done any homework on Shrouded Fable so I am in no position to comment on how much of the set you are likely to aquire from a specified amount of booster packs. Everyone has their own way they like to collect and that's fine. I tried to collect a master set when I first seriously started collecting Pokemon cards. It was Breakthrough in the XY generation. Master sets were much easier to assemble then than they are now. I opened about 300 packs and still needed one of the two secret rare Mewtwo cards as well as a half dozen or so reverses. While I found it fun trying to assemble the set from booster packs I found it was costing way to much money to build a master set that had a value of only about 10% of the cost of all the packs I ripped. So that's the only master set I have as I decided to not worry about master sets and instead keep half what I purchase sealed and scratch the itch to rip with the other half and not bother trying ro master sets or try to catch em all as its too expensive for me so have learned to be satisfied and happy with whatever hits I pull. Sure I always want to pull the big chase cards like everyone else but have accepted the fact I will never pull or own them all. Chasing a specific csrd though can cause somebody ro spend alot more than they wanted to which can lead one to experience declining enjoyment and interest in the hobby. It's important to enjoy the hobby by collecting in an affordable satisfying and sustainable manner or this hobby will chew you up and spit you out.
I see zero risk in buying DA and VV for retail if your gonna hold longterm. Some of the worst sets ive held for years do great in the end. The only thing I wouldnt touch is battle styles. That set is cursed 😂 you have to remember ive been doing this a long time, alot of people dont see the bigger picture in the lower demand long term plays. Buy in cheap and pile them high 👍
@@PokePondI disagree. I wouldnt touch VV or DA with a ten foot pole. However I think Battle Styles isn't that bad and will outperform VV and DA in the long run.
I feel more of the market share will move into SV, and I think that's a better place to focus my efforts. Mostly because we know what DAB and VV have to offer, and it's not _great_... SV sets on the other hand, have that unknown explosive potential which these SWSH sets once had. How high will VV and DAB go? Not higher than SWSH's better set counterparts, that's for sure How high will sets like TF, TWM, and PE go? Not sure - but we KNOW there is a lot of potential there. My favorite for buying now is Paldea Evolved. Next year this time? Temporal forces and Twilight Masquerade. I'm hard avoiding special sets like paldean fates, 151, shrouded fable. Special sets have not produced the results that main sets produce since like HF or something. Especially avoiding 151 because of the hype... It makes me feel like it's a clone of the energy around celebrations, which hasn't made many moves since launch.
I agree, the only reason why I think some money will flow into DA and VV is the lack of reprints, even the worst sets over time climb. i waited 6 years to sell my sun and moon base, I didnt think it would ever rise, them boom, near tripled my money in the last year of holding it.
