i recently went on a 151 reprint spending spree and i spent a bit too much (i got boxes directly from japan at $55 shipped), now i have to sell a few cards in my collection because i spent a bit too much. but i rather hold the sealed boxes anyway so its fine. but yeah dont overspend because you have to make difficult decisions after if you need cash. great video
Japanese market reprints this time around have had and will continue to have a serious negative effect on the market. And 151 is NOT the next Evolving Skies this time around unfortinately. It will increase in price from its current levels, but likely take many many years to see $200 price level again, far too much inventory on this issue at this point, with likely more still being printed for future release. Easy/Big money party is now officially over. 8-10% yearly gains will be the norm, IF the price is moving up and not stagnating. Just look at sets from the past 18 months to confirm this is already happening. Supply has exceeded demand officially. Well said. The japanese printers are now printing for the entire global market. There is no longer exclusivity by rarity for Japanese cards since the Pokemon Japan wants to cash in for anyone who wants Japanese cards. I don't think the Japanese supply will ever go back to pre-pandemic levels. I think Pokemon Japan will continue to print and reprint large numbers until the market is completely saturated to the point that no one wants Japanese cards which could take forever to happen. Japanese cards still have a leg up on English cards in terms of quality but the numbers being printed has made Japenese products as accessible as the English ones.

When considering the game play and the collecting niches as of today, we haven't really seen S&V come out with a true banger set yet. Seems the overall consensus many fans are not happy with the newer Gen Pokemon as well. I think we are definitely in the 2017-2019 era when after XY Flashfire, the TCG aspect of Pokemon really fell and we truly didn't see a comeback till Hidden Fates, over 3+ years and 26 sets later. I see S&V staying the same thru to the next set. Maybe another banger set comes out but overall, I think we are in a stale period once again. But history taught everyone, those who stayed in Pokemon thru this first Quarter of the Century, it has paid off big time for them. Many becoming Millionaires for "staying the course". But you said it perfectly, if you have the financial means to sit on product and not have to fire sell for money needs, you're sitting good.
What I can say for sure (in my mind at least lel) is that 151 Japanese boxes will rise quite a bit within a year. People that keep saying it got reprinted too much simply don't understand the demand for something like that, I have normie friends that simply know about the vintage stuff from when they were kids that ask me to buy them a box of 151 here and there and have so much fun opening them even though they couldn't care less about modern. I really cannot see this box not going places within a year. That said I don't really care, I have a few boxes and I intend to set them aside for at least 5 but in any case the only thing we can do is wait and see :V

I just started collecting again and looked at my old collection of team up and couldn't believe the prices! So selling some doubles to get some scarlet and violet product and maybe sword and shield. I do tend to get some money out of it but like people say it's more a 5 to 10 year investment. 80 % invest and 20% collect. Keeps it fun and that's what it should be

In a short run like 3 - 5 years, everything will go up like crazy, but in a long run like 20 + years, everything introduced after 2020 will crash and never recover. People are underestimating the amount of products sleeping in those investors' closet. When these modern products go out of stock, it simply means they moved from store shelves to people's closet, not supply drying up.
This could potentially be true, however you’re forgetting about the kids. If Pokémon is able to make better games I think a lot of the young fans will be buyers in 20+ years. It could swing either way just depends on how many people sell their products sitting on their shelves in the next 3-5 years
Possibly, but have you seen whatnot, drip, TikTok and other live rip and ships. It’s crazy the amount of product that gets ripped compared to years ago
