Made in Pokemon SoulSilver and Platinum versions. Ash's team is based on one of his Sinnoh League teams from the Lily of the Valley Conference. Professor Oak's team is a combination of his glitch team from Red, Blue and Yellow versions and Pokemon he owns in the anime.

Y'all ever played Gen 1 competitive? Body Slam is where it's at. Resisted only by two types in Gen 1 (three nowadays after the addition of Steel in Gen 2), S.-T.A.B. on Tauros, with a chance to paralyze even Ground-types, who are immune to Electric-type moves (which are the most often used type to spread the status condition).

1.) Ash defeated Latios. It was a double KO, but he beat it. The problem is Darkrai and Latios together required all 6 of Ash's Pokemon to give everything they had. 2.) By the conclusion of the Sinnoh League (and actually long before Ash even made it to Sinnoh), Ash's Pikachu no longer knows Thunder. It replaced Thunder with Volt Tackle.

Top tier battle per usual, Wicked. Though I gotta point out that, since Red picked Bulbasaur for his starter (while Blue got Charmander), Oak (and Keaf by extension) has a Blastoise as his team ace instead of Venusaur. Layman's terms is that there was a missed opportunity to let Torterra kick some butt at the end.

I mean, that's only in the Manga. In Origins, Red picked Charmander and Blue (Or Green, depending on who you ask) picked Squirtle. Given that, in the Oak battle glitch, he has the final form of the Starter neither of you picked, Venusaur would make sense in that continuity.

+Geeking Out Well I theorize this takes place after Sinnoh Tales and Red was "honored" a hero by Palkia and Dialga and got the permission this way. So he is just traveling in the past and across universes to get these battles together. Just a thought.

What about Ash Sinnoh Vs Ash Kalos? I think that'd be an interesting matchup. Though, I already feel bad for Noivern. He has yet to win and one Pikachu Thunder would be the end there, sadly. Poor Noivern, can't catch a break. (Also, too bad it never learned hurricane. In combination with Goodra's rain dance, oh the destructive power that team could've become)
