I love how you complain about a 10-15 second cutscene, when the gen 7 games have literal like 3 minute unskippable cutscenes.

I used to spend all my time as a kid playing pokemon platinum catching shinys, replaying the game over and over and constantly leveling my favourite pokemon it's a core memory of my childhood!

You can get the other 2 sinnoh starters at the pokemon lab and the 3 starters from the other 3 regions in the pkmn centers of jubilife,oreburg and floaroma also you can get gengar in the room rignt next to rotoms i believe but you have to talk to a paint and try to leave the room and gengar will show up

I felt the pain of hunting that chimchar in regular platinum with no hacks or action replay. (I did use an action replay after I finally got it but that was so my game could get oak’s letter and member card…accidentally did a 999 of each item too so…unlimited money I guess?) I don’t remember how many soft resets it took but I remember I was watching liv n Maddie while I soft reset and I almost screamed when I saw the pink chimchar I then set out for my journey as this is a shiny badge quest. I counted chimchar toward the first badge and after the first gym, I decided to hunt Shinx…a hunt that lasted 5 years between off and on and first caught 2 bidoof (I counted them toward the badge quest and therefore did more gym fights.) I was about to give up on the badge quest when finally one morning after nothing sparkling for 5 years (literally…1 bidoof sparkled after a few weeks I think and then a second bidoof sparkled not too awful long afterward…then…nothing sparkled for 5 years), shinx finally sparkled and I just about cried. It was a great moment and I played around with the shinx to lvl her up. I wouldn’t let her evolve until she hit lvl 30 cuz I mean…I spent FIVE YEARS hunting for that shinx and I just wasn’t ready for it to be such a short lived shinx. Of course…once I finally decided to evolve her, the luxio was short lived cuz she shortly evolved into luxray after that. Now I’m hunting for staravia or ralts…I think it’ll be a long hunt but one that is also off and on due to life and new games coming out.

Did that shiny hunt for chimchar legit on my copy of platinum on my DS. Took weeks from what I remember but it’s always a great feeling having a shiny starter whoop every npc’s basic Pokémon 😂

There is actually a way to shiny hunt Pokémon in Platinum. If the ID and Secret ID are the same (might have to use an action replay to do this) and you have a Pokémon with cute charm, you’ll be able to find wild shinies 5% of the time (starters, gift Pokémon, and legendary/mythical Pokémon are still full odds). Or you could always use the Pokeradar.

You should shiny hunt on brilliant diamond ! Would love to see that!

Someone may have commented this already but the drayano hacks have a heightened shiny rate. So with speed up this game is a lot less painful than regular Platinum on a DS with full odds

in my years of playing pokemon, starting as a child, i can’t remember finding a single shiny besides a Kecleon in pokemon diamond. at the time i didn’t know what a shiny even was though and i killed it off. later when i asked my cousin why that pokemon was such a weird color, she laughed at me and called me a dumbass for killing it. i think i was around 8 years old then

There are only 2 shinies that I have encountered in my life, full odds, wild pokemon (I have masuda method before to get a shiny shinx on Platinum and I'm currently vying for a shiny ralts on HG) Shiny Aron - Pokemon Sapphire when I was a kid, I messed it up tho and I felt so bad cause I couldn't find the Aron with the red eyes again Shiny Shuppet - I was EV grinding for Attack in Emerald at Mt. Pyre, and to my surprise I encountered a shiny Shuppet. I named her Shirley, unfortunately it was on an emulator
