I truly thought that claiming that my cat - if cloned a billion times would end the world by meowing in unison with himself would be enough to effectively communicate that this video is a joke but clearly I've overestimated Pokemon fans

Just a thing I wanted to point out. Being hotter than the sun would not destroy the earth or even do anything apocalyptic. Lightening is 50,000 degrees which is WAY hotter than the surface of the sun.

The image were the girl hugged her Macargo is actually plausible because in the anime we've seen fire Pokemon regulate their body temperatures. Like in the original series where Ash couldn't ride a Ponyta because he didn't earn it's trust and he got burned but later on he rode Ponyta/Rapidash with no problem.

For the record, the lions would never actually be able to kill all of the pokemon Greninja could use soak on Shedinja, turning shedinja into a pure water type. The lions would have to use a grass or electric type move to kill it which they don't have access to

I think your argument fell apart when you brought PP into it. I don't think pokemon in a realistic setting would be limited by PP, take bite for example. they can only BITE a certain number of times before they start struggling? Lion's and other real world animals don't have PP and can bite way more than 20 times or whatever. And if you DO run with that premise and try to make the distinction that Dark Move Bite isn't the same as an animal (lion) biting and is some sort of supernatural, limited use, pokemon move then we're back to lions being unable to damage ghost types and pokemon win.

You didn't mention Steel types. Have you ever tried to bite metal? Yeah. Didn't think so. And it doesn't stop there. Solgaleo. METAL LION! The Pokémon might be outnumbered, but they have a God damned Metal Lion that is able to channel the powers of the Sun on their side. *One Billion Lions* might be able to take down the Sun. *One Billion Lions* might be able to take down Pokémon. But a Metal Lion with Sun Powers might be too much for the *One Billion Lions* to handle.

I think it would really rely on if the lions could eat the Pokémon. Because in cannon Pokémon don’t need to be fed food but lions do. So if the Pokémon could delay their loss for a few weeks than the lions would be hungry and start to die of starvation and be forced to consume each other. The only solution for the Pokémon to win is to force the lions against each other. Not to mention that lions are known for killing cubs as a power move. There’s no way 1 billion lions could get along where as only 800 or so Pokémon have to get along.

This is a thoroughly convincing argument. However, I feel as if you are overlooking one Pokemon that might turn the tide based on the lion roar strategy Whismur is a stupid rabbit. However, he has an ability called Soundproof, meaning that he is immune to all sound-based attacks. That means that when the lions all roar, he will not know why all of his friends have suddenly died, terrifyingly, their eardrums all rupturing. And he'll probably be cool with that, he seems like he would be pretty anxious in that large of a crowd. However, then he would see a billion lions. Now, I'm not going to argue that the lions would also destroy themselves in the billion king roar - they might, but the argument isn't that fun. However, Whismur won't know what's going on, just that a billion lions are coming at him. And Whismur knows a move called Roar, which is so scary that no matter what, the opponent will run away. Now, the lions JUST roared. They know the sound of the roar of a billion lions. Whatever Whismur sounds like, because it made them run away, HAS to be more scary than the sound of a billion lions. I cannot imagine what is scarier than the sound of a billion lions, so I would assume that the billion lions, who know for a fact that they can defeat the sun, would be even more terrified of something that could destroy even them, and would probably run into the ocean and drown until we ran out of water. And then this rabbit would just sit there, hanging out with Mr. Mime I guess, who is also deaf. And a mime. I don't know if one mime and a rabbit are scarier than a billion lions, actually.

Many of the Legendary Pokemon would solo the entire 1B Lions army It doesn't matter how many Lions there are, they are all still in Earth, and some Legendaries can completely fuck up the entire planet on their own, killing all lions in the process Mewtwo, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus, Regigiga, Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem, Genesect, Yveltal, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Eternatus, Zacian and Zamacenta can all solo the billion lions Yveltal could literally just fly around with Oblivion Wing, killing anyone and then kamikazee itself when it gets bored Zekrom and Reshiram could burn the entire planet, killing all the lions at once Kyurem could freeze the entire planet, killing all lions at once Mewtwo could storm the entire planet like it did in the movie Kyogre can flood the entire planet, killing all lions at once And on top of that, Eternatus can cause all the other Pokemon Dynamax, making them all reach the 100' height and turning each of their attacks into tactical nukes PS: and yes, I know the video is being ironic. Pokedex entries are written by 10-year olds. Do you think that a 4th grader who just wrote down data on 800 other Pokemon carefully measured how hot Magcargo is, or just burned their hand and was like "That's 180,000 degrees, probably."

I like that you analysed the Earthquake to calculate how strong something would be in that instance, HOWEVER there is literally a move called Magnitude, which would be able to give you a more accurate finding - the move can vary in scale from 1-10, so you could use that to come up with a more accurate real world equivalent in this part imo

I think depending on how the Legendaries reacted, most Pokemon would die but the billion lions would as well. But also, the planet would probably be destroyed and only a few Pokemon, mainly legendaries could live after

13:09 Funny enough, Imposter Ditto resets its own PP when switching out and then transforming again, which means it can circumvent this limitation Also some of these more outlandish feats can be accurate since we do see them happen, like Kyogre's floods and Black/White Kyreum freezing an entire city. Kyogre in particular could just kill all of the lion just by flooding the land since lions cant swim forever. And if we're limiting the pokemon to in game mechanics, we also have to consider that lions (at least the males) are very territorial, and will kill each other for more land, as well as the fact that biting is not an accurate representation of the move Bite.

I like to believe that almost most of the Pokédex entries are some kind of folklore which was collected, this means that we can’t really judge this on the Pokédex. A better look for this debate on the side of Pokémon is to look at the anime version. For example some legendary’s could literally make lions not exist like Arceus.

To blow a hole in your maths: Earthquake with a power of 100 puts it at about magnitude 8.5 if we compare it to the move Magnitude. The highest magnitude earthquake in real life is the 1960 Chile earthquake at 9.5, which killed 1,655 people. At 9.5, this earthquake would have about 120 power in Pokémon, but the move Magnitude goes up to 10, which has 150 power. Earthquake at 8.5 / 100 power when compared to the 1960 Chile earthquake would mean it's able to kill about 1,480 with each use and a Magnitude 10 could kill 1,742 with each use. There are currently 58 Pokémon able to learn Earthquake by level up and at 10 PP base you're looking at 580 Earthquakes / 858,400 lions dead. Increase that to 16 PP using a PP Max on each Pokémon and you'll get 928 Earthquakes / 1,373,440. Then there's Magnitude. 16 Pokémon can learn it and it has a base PP of 30. It only has a 5% chance to use Magnitude 10, but that averages about 1.5 per Pokémon, or about 24 uses (plus all the rest of the weaker Magnitudes that would still kill many lions each). This means that there would be 41,808 kills just from that 5% of uses, but if you increase the PP with PP Maxes you get 48 uses per Pokémon, which is 2.4 Magnitude 10s per Pokémon, 38.4 total Magnitude 10s (rounded down to 38 for easier maths), or about 66,196 kills from Magnitude 10s alone. So with only two move slots and less than 10% of the Pokémon we've got over 10% of the lions dead, and these numbers only go up even higher if we allow for TMs to be used to teach even more Pokémon the moves. Even if you half all my final kill counts as you did in your video, these moves together take out a significant chunk of the lions and the Pokémon still have loads of choices left. This is ignoring the Flying types that can stay out of reach of the lions and attack from the air, the water types that can cause floods with Surf, and the Fighting types that we can assume have type advantage against lions. Many Pokémon also learn moves like Protect to prevent attacks, or Dig and Fly that can protect them for the moment before they attack. There are also plenty of moves that can burn, paralyse, and put the lions to sleep, nullifying many of them. Not to mention powerful defensive walls like Shuckle, Aggron, and Steelix who could easily resist Swipes, Slashes, Bites, and Crunches from the lions, taking many attacks to go down as they attacked. On top of this there's Roar of Time, Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, and other 150 power moves that can be used by many Pokémon. Then there's also Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Stealth Rock which would cause the lions problems as they advanced. There are also Pokémon with access to moves like Absorb, Giga Drain, Leech Seed, and Leech Life which could keep themselves alive while fighting back the lions. All this to say: I disagree.

Thats not how decibels work, a sound doesnt get twice as loud just because 2 exact same sounds play at the same time. Commonly, decibels go up by 3 if the same sound is played at the same time.

This comment section is amazing. There's one point in the debate no one seems to talk about, though. Is this a fight to the death? Because lions die all the time. Circle of life, yo. Pokemon? When they run out of HP, they simply faint. When little Pichu gets hit by superpowered laser beams, deadly suicidal explosions, horrific supernatural ghost attacks, natural disaster type things like tsunamis and earthquakes or even the judgement of the almighty Arceus himself.... The worst that happens is he faints. I don't think a lion could kill even Hopip with scratches and bites. Pokemon CAN die but the specifics of it are never stated in the games and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with battle. I guess lions could eat the small ones whole, but that doesn't take care of Wailord. That's just if fainting doesn't count as an automatic loss for the Pokemon, though. And while I'm here, dicking around with my free-time writing this nonsense - I have a counter-argument for the PP thing. In the games, there are Miltank on the overworld that can heal your party. All their PP and health restored like new. Not cryptic Pokedex lies but an actual proven ability Miltank has and uses in the games. So as long as the other godly, terraforming monoliths of Pokemon can keep the lions away from the Miltank, they could eventually chip away at that billion without a single one of them dying. Even without Miltank, the mystery dungeon games show that pokemon can bring and use their own items, like seeds/berries to heal each other too. When a lion dies, it's gone for good. Nothing in modern science has been seen that can bring one back (RIP Mufasa, he was too good for this world). AAAAAND some Pokemon are poisonous to the touch, so the moment a lion comes in contact with one, it's slowly dying from venom without the Pokemon even using one of it's PP. I'm not saying it's an obvious easy win for the Pokemon. All I'm saying is, these are some things no one considers. Also, quality over quantity, baby. I'm excited to see the equally dumb responses I get about this stuff, lol.

Ok you raised some good points, but have you considered Recycle? A move that, if paired with a Leppa Berry, allows a Pokemon to attack an infinite amount of times. Drifloon, Drifblim, and Arceus, can all likely float indefinately, I would assume. So by holding a leppa berry and spamming ranged moves like Hyper Beam or Shadow Ball, Drifblim (and Arceus I guess) can just float above the lions and slowly snipe them down. Even if they climb something, it can just float higher. Even if they climb the fucking Burj Khalifa, they can't really do much but swipe around it and jump, so if Drifblim just hovers a few feet away, it can still be immune. Also, after writing this I forgot about Levitate. The Lake Trio, Claydol, Bronzong, Chimecho, Cresselia, Solrock, and Lunatone can ALL employ this master plan. Checkmate, Fudj.

Fudj this was an absolute pleasure, yet also a disappointment. You dance around a much more meaningful discussion yet never embrace it. At the heart of the question "Who would win in a fight, one of everyone Pokemon, or a Billion lions?" is something greater than hp, and db, and pp. It's about humanity's relationship with the stories we tell ourselves. The video games and the anime-- neither are definitive because neither are real. They are both interpretations of a fictional world we created. So how powerful are the beings in this fictional world? How powerful are our imaginations? You reach for the real, the tangible, the quantifiable, and say surely the lions would win. But what you fail to do, is realize that some pokemon are capable of strategy. Of self- sacrifice. You fail to realize that Mewtwo would take leadership of the pokemon, and united they would form a defensive perimeter around Kakuna and Metapod. At that point they would only need to buy them enough turns until they're both hardened well past the point of diamonds, and completely invulnerable to all attacks from the lions. Eventually the lions grow tired, bored, hungry. As lions do, they'll just fucking kill each other until a limited number of males control their own territories and prides, forgetting all about the pokemon because they lack critical thinking or strategy, and the two remaining pokemon stay hard until the heat death of the universe, long before which all lions have gone extinct.

I think its safe to say that the pokemon would actually win, since a move like surf hits multiple targets, so if one of the many many water types uses surf, all one billion lions would probably drown.

What a pokemon like Lanturn who can just hide underwater and shock all the lions before they can get anywhere near it. Most aquatic pokemon could use this tactic to either force a draw or win.

What lore are we using. I, personally, use the pokédex entries and only the pokédex entries. I won't talk about that famous pokémon so much, so don't worry. Let's talk about another pokémon. Alakazam. Alakazam has a IQ of 5e3/5000. When it closes its eyes, it heighens all its other senses. Not enough? Rayquaza has Draco Meteor. Meteor. Meteors explode if thrown at something that can't be considered untouchable, because the strengh of a meteor when thrown at something like the earth makes it explode. And, no, not everyone dies with Draco Meteor. Arceus, Primal Kyogre, Mewtwo, Mew, Dialga, Palkia, Celebi. Good examples of OP pokémon who can literally fullass not die to a meteor at full strengh. Primal Kyogre manipulates and generates water, so it could just protect itself with water. Mewtwo, they have extreme battle abilities. They could yes survive a meteor. One contradiction here is that it only thinks of defeating its foes (Gen 2, Pokémon Gold entry in pokédex). P.S. : I did not include Mewtwo X and Y. Mew flies/floats. It can also learn ANY move. Arceus is a literal god. Also, Arceus was the one who shaped the world, before the universe even existed. It has acknowledge about the world, and can have 1000 arms. Some other pokémon who are not even legendary/no one talks about them : Gardevoir/Sirnight can read the future and create a small black hole, despite having the ability do distort dimensions. Its power PEAKS when protecting its trainer, not shows itself. Gardevoir/Sirnight does not need a trainer. Shaymin, in the anime, is often seen in the space where there are also Arceus, Dialga, Palkia and Giratina. Shaymin is the only one who was often able to defeat Giratina, or almost that. Darkrai makes things sleep and have nightmares. It's not harmful, but can be used as a powerful weapon. I could include other pokémon here, like Yveltal and Zygarde, but I don't think i need to include them to PROVE I think pokémon win.

There was actually a more accurate of getting the equation for Earthquake, while it wouldn't make a major difference you can use Magnitude, Earthquake's damage is between magnitude 8-9, making it more deadly than calculated in the video, even if it's not a major difference, just a little detail that was missed.

What happenes if YVeltal dies? Doesnt it kill every living being, then revive?

We've literally seen both Raquaza and Deoxys survive in space in the games. The lions are not reaching space, not to mention the metric boatload of flying pokemon the lions wouldn't be able to do anything about. Sure they'll get tired eventually but by then the other mons will have had more than enough time to unleash a multitude of insane spread moves on the lions. Speaking of spread moves, basing the number of lions killed by earthquake based on human death tolls is ludicrous. Humans have vehicles, advanced medicine, exact knowledge of exactly how earthquakes work etc. Lions have none of that, so depending on the base attack of the pokemon, I would say one earthquake is killing at least one or two thousand lions if they're close together. An earthquake from a pokemon like Groudoun is bopping at least a few hundred thousand. Multiply that by 10 or 16, that's a few million lions, much more than the 1.1 million per pokemon you laid out which would make up for pokemon like feebas. Same goes for surf, since it's pretty much a full-on tsunami in the hands of certain pokemon like Kyogre. Lions are getting bopped, even ignoring the pokedex completely.

The single Pokémon run bit was a very bad take. Also, a bunch of the evidence against the pokedex was really dumb. -Kadabra was a one time thing -Dusklops evolves into a Dusknoir, which is literally said to have a portal to hell inside of him.
