Good video. I prefer Digimon because of the fun story and characters. I think Pokemon was just larger due to brand consistency whether that was good or not.
@@CrabShackAnimations Yeah. I think one reviewer put it best when they started doing more character driven stories; it doesn’t work if the main character is mute or doesn’t communicate if you’re doing a character focused story. Also, I feel like Black and White are overrated. X and Y was at least fun and let you do things.
Pokemon may have gotten everyone with the hardcore nostalgia and merchandising that was way stronger than digimon, at least digimon let the characters age, was able to expand upon the franchise with each new season whether it was a good idea or not and while the games were pretty much hit and Miss when it has good games it has them in a very good and entertaining way and most of the time they were better than most pokemon games. Hell at least when digimon does dark interesting storytelling, it does it in a way where in both the games and the anime it's actually good when they dip their toes into dark topics but Pokémon meanwhile doesn't do that and only does it in one generation and only in very very small sprinkles but never goes even further beyond that. And I say all of this as someone who grew up with both franchises but since I gave up on the Pokémon games and the entire series in general with VERY few exceptions, I mainly stick with digimon.
Yeah the original digi destines actually act like tired mature unenthusiastic adults, like their best years are behind them, the adventure was over and it was time to integrate into society and settle for a life of mediocrity
Digimon felt like an artistic expression, Pokémon felt like a machine designed to capture and monetize our attention, they didn’t make a product, they made a bait, we were the product
I think they did(game), I think most of it’s down fall was being slightly late and it’s slight resembling to Pokémon, you can tell the creator chose artistic integrity of profit
@@CrabShackAnimations I’m telling now is the time to shine. Pokémon games are lazy and ass and now people have noticed. Digimon can make an awesome game with Unreal 5 graphics. Another Cyber Sleuth, or Digimon World or Card Battle Game (that one was so good). And put fun over grinding and there you have it. Imagine Pal World but you’re surviving in the Digital World and your mons don’t die of old age.
