Fun fact: during WW2 under nazi occupation, nazi soldiers had to guard the statue of Copernicus because they claimed Copernicus was German and Polish partisans kept unscrewing a plaque covering up a writing in Polish "To Copernicus, from his nation".
fun fact: In 1800's was one polish dude that created coloured projector, radio wave transmitter and reciever. However those things were forgotten because they werent interesting at that time
@@placek7125 unfortunately I don't remember. That fun fact was from one video that the teacher once played us. However it was some years ago so everything I remember is there ;-;
@@NonHerodotus thats true, but the part that was worst for Europe was, that they would Force them to belive in Allah. They were defend their traditions And faith in the first place. On the other hand, Christians in this time often let conquered territorries some sort of culture Freedom And just want taxes And resources (btw sorry for bad english, in from czech republic)
No problem, brother, one of the main policies of the Ottoman Empire was a policy called "istimalet", which means appeasing non-Muslims. Protect everyone who pays their taxes and follows a set of rules (some of which are absurd and based on oppression of non-Muslims). Because if they hadn't done that, they wouldn't have been able to rule Christianity, which outnumbered Muslims for centuries. In fact, the Ottomans were not imposing Islam, but they were settling Muslims in those areas and they were indicating that if they were Muslims they would have various privileges.
1:16 This is actually an interesting comparison because I've heard somewhere (I'm not 100% it's true) that the downhill cavalry charge in The Lord of the Rings was indeed inspired by the Polish cavalry charge in Vienna.
Beacuse czechoslovakia took it from us during our war with the soviets, if they want to attack a country at its lowest its only fair it happends to them as well Also Poland wasnt in munich conference, common misconception born from the fact that western countries ignore literally everything that happends between ww1 and rise of germany, well everything exept great depression
Czechs didn't respected public plebiscites in Zaolzie region, in which majority voted to join Poland and took it by force in 1919 or 1920, can't remember, so Poland took it back on 1938. Awful timing and decision in general, but well... Shit happens
In fact, it cannot be said that they liked it, the Ottomans were against the division of Poland between Austria and Russia, even after the annexation of the Polish Empire, the Ottomans continued to mention the name of Poland in the ambassador ceremonies, this is a purely political event.
@@NonHerodotus Yeah, states don't have emotions, but in our country, this seems to be romanticized when explained. It's as if the Ottomans thought so much about Poland that they asked this question cuz of this for centuries.
0:09 Funfact. Modern Lithuania isn't the same as historical lithuania, modern lithuania is from different culture group and historically it was population that was pretty much opressed by lithuania and poland, so they have all the reasons to hate poland. Ukraine and belorus are the closest things to historical lithuania, with a note that ukrainians are closer to cossaks during the time of commonwealth
