For me, 2019 - is the best Poland entry, it's so beautiful! I'm from Ukraine and I was so sad when they didn't pass from the semi final. I hope our Solovey (also with ethnic singing) will be more successful next year.
1994 was my fav Polish entry... until Kasia Mos turned up in 2017. Flashlight is such an amazing song and she blows it out of the water! :) And you are correct - Poland has the record for the highest-debuting country for Edyta.
7:05 Actually he made us wait "2 long" for his coming out, which happened just recently. 15:00 Considering we are relatively new member of ESC with a lot of spot years, I feel like you could have checked the JESC in the same video. 19:15 "She wasn't Eve, it wasn't her who stole the Heaven". Edyta was such an iconic, kinda sad what have become of her in recent years, as she kinda went off the hook lately. She talks often about conspiracies, has been vocal anti-vaxx as well. But then again that's what sometimes happens to someone who was so much in spotlights for decades. Well at least that's not what happened to Justyna Steczkowska, who performed year later and who pretty much is on the same level as Edyta when it comes to be an iconic Polish diva... I also recommend watching full performance of hers, same goes for other entries - as some of those songs actually had way better moments.
My favourite is 1999. Such a beautiful song... If only they had entered it when ESC was 100% decided by a jury vote. Mietek has such an amazing voice it would have been appreciated more by a jury
I am pleasantly surprised by your positive response to my country's performances. It's hard for me to choose a favorite. So... 1994 - absolute icon. My dad watched her performance looking at the commander's TV through the window while he was in the army xd But times change and now she might not open her mouth anymore when she doesn't need to ... Don't ask. 1995 - probably too modern and extravagant for 1995 1996 - great singer. I have no idea what happened that night xd 1997 - this song just makes me smile. 1998 - ... okay? 1999 - I love that man
@@iluna1975 Yeah I know but I feel strange when I hear it. And she can't do everything on her own. She works with a lot of people and they they make money from singers. Sometimes at the cost of art. I wouldn't want her to sing typical radio songs just to earn money.
1994, 1995, 1997 my favorite! Before 2001 it is time where we send our best singers (super stars) then our polish artists realized that they risk a lot in Eurovision and they do not want do go from this time. So we send new artist and thise which go to Eurovision to make a name. I love also 2014 and 2016, 2017. Ps! Welcome in Poland in the future!
Poland is so different in recent years. That WTF 2010 performance where he sings those dull English lyrics and literally rips off the shirt and strangles one of the female dancers at the end, an attempt to make the audience feel sorry for a disabled singer in 2015 (absolutely don't support this stuff), a traditional performance in 2019, just extremely feel good song in 2018, usual ballads in 2017 and 2020... But no doubt that my favourite is 2014, this is one of the such rare rapping Eurovision songs that did so well at the contest itself, televoters just adored it, juries tried to put it as low as possible, but they failed😎. And I like that sass in the live performance so much) And a honorable mention for Michal Szpak, she did a really good job, people all over Europe got this emotion of the song, he even finished 3rd by the televoting despite it was a very dated ballad. So sad that they always so undeservedly underrated by juries, they wasn't even in top10 by the jury voting in the semi final from 2010 all the way to 2019, so without televoting they would always not qualify!(
2010 was total rip-off of Norway winning year before - it was actually embarrassing, considering there were better songs in preselections. I am genuinely offended, by what you are saying about the 2015, though. As no - she wasn't chosen to make people feel sorry for her (I would rather say that about Russia year later, if about anyone). This was her story and her moment - us sending her was a thank you to her whole career. It was also her trying to challenge herself after years of healing, to get back to the live-performing. And it also showed how unprepared organisers were to accommodate her there. It wasn't about winning or even going to the finale. It was a moment for us as Polish people and for her as iconic performer. We know we aren't gonna win, when the budget from TVP on ESC has been always garbage. That's why many entries are more about being a meme (My Słowianie is actually an auto-parody song of previous Donatan's songs) or feeling ethnic (Tulia). And those other entries are just example of what basic Polish person would listen to. We are soo into boring ballads, good rock, cringy campy songs and good singers singing awful songs. But also Polish ESC is so cheap - like Kasia Moś literally had to do herself whole staging and dresses with help of her family and friends, cause public TV gave her no support. All the money and talent goes to JESC, where more famous and iconic Polish singers stay far from the ESC, cause its not worth the trouble. Especially the 2000s-2010s era was mostly less known people. Even Michał was only known for his win in the Polish X Factor and was mostly forgotten outside the LGBT community, before the ESC.
Poland is hard. There's not too many i like, and I have to give it to Monika's "In The Name Of Love", followed by Spzak's "Color of Your Life" (sorry) and Kasia Mos' "Flashlight". I HATED Gromee and hated the song even more live. Still good job guys.
2014 was ICONIC!!! I also like 2010, 2006, 2005, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016. Its a pity that Poland is mutch better in JESC ... BTW their 2003 and 2006 act are almost the same people. Alicja is probably coming back
12:46 KASIA QUEEN ❤️❤️😍😍❤️😘🇵🇱 She deserved Top 3 with her beauty alone Greetings from Azerbai̇jan to Poland, one of my favourite countries in Eurovision
The debut Serbia won their debut as Serbia not Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro. Serbia is the only country to win on their debut excluding Switzerland which won the first song
Edyta Górniak is still the best singer in Poland today :) if you want to listen to her last live perfomance was phenomenal. Edyta Górniak sang the song "List" which is a Polish version of the song "I surrender" by Celine Dion (this song was actually supposed to be sang by Edyta before Celine). Just write in youtube "Edyta Górniak - List (Dekalog AD 2021)".
I love you, boys. Maybe this year Krystian has a chance? Listen to Justyna Steczkowska (1995). She is a fantastic Singer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1mJytckTJ7A.html
