Looks good but personally, I'm done with Polar. Confusing product decisions further pushes me away from them. The value (in terms of cost vs functions and features) just isn't there. And they've promised future updates before that they did not deliver.. Miss the Flow dashboard but that's about it. Thanks Matt

Hey Matt, I like your reviews a lot, you have this awesome calm way of speaking :) Regarding Polar Ignite 3 I bet it's still targeted at typical fitness enthusiasts instead of cyclists/ runners/ triathletes. So, I guess keeping running power could be a bit confusing for buyers. Lets say I want to buy running watch with power. I look at price tag, then compare features; I find that Pacer Pro has running power while Ignite has not. Thank you, no need to look further, I'll get myself Pacer Pro. I'm long time Polar user, and what I miss is a new cycling computer. I still M460, but it's kinda outdated. I guess they decided to focus on watches only.

The screen looks fantastic. All the features in polar watches are also great. However, it is overpriced a little bit. Personally I do a great deal of wintertraining, like xc skiing, and I think I would miss more buttons on the watch. I use Polar vantage v2, wich is a great watch. I would like to have Ignite 3 but I think I will wait for an update of V2 or grit x pro instead, wich hopefully gives me buttons and a better battery time. Thanks for att supeb video. Keep up the great work.

They should add naps recordings through the day so it will be more accurate with the recovery and total sleep.. if not it wont be accurate as other companies has. I think it's pretty important. Adding naps if the watch didn't record it.

Good video as always Matt. Yeah keep on waiting for that polar watch, that will take me back. Mainly because I miss the flow app, I do like it's simplicity a lot. As a runner I prefer their summary of the run. I believe for someone wanting an activity tracker is a good option. But yeah the price is a bit hard to sell when you compare with what the market has to offer.

Where I'm admittedly sticking with my 920XT until it frags itself, I find all of your reviews very interesting. In this instance, I think there's two breaking points that say, "This is not a watch for the Celtic Clydesdale." First, even though I always muck it up, I still insist on having multisport modes. I use both the duathlon and triathlon settings on my 920XT, and they have me pretty spoiled. Second is that price tag. I get the whole inflation thing, and I understand that "shrinkflation" is very real. Still, Polar seems to have put the pricepoint for this watch way too close to that of more capable options. Bad move, I think, regardless of the impact of the current economy. At any rate, you've produce another excellent video. Much respect, my friend!

@@mlegrand Strange. It's on the list for sports profiles over specific watches. And you tried to add it via polar flow app on your phone when having the Ignite 3 active? Just wonder if you have another watch from polar top compare with? I can be wrong as well. I took the info from their homepage.
@mlegrand
@mlegrand Год назад
@@RallihSarl - If the website says it's an option than I'm sure it'll work. Typically, you can set 20 sports profiles from their list of 150+ and I put triathlon at the top. Hello Matt Great review! Had the opportunity to try the ignite 3 for a short period of time. Found it pretty laggy ( Is that a word?). Menus seemed slow to me. GPS was Ehhh.. Ok I guess, I certainly wouldn't depend on it. The display was great, but I tend to agree with you that this watch would be a better $249 watch. I believe polar has missed the mark with this one.
@mlegrand
@mlegrand Год назад
Thanks for the feedback Peter! I have a theory about the laggyness. I think the developers are slowing down the cycle speed of the processors when it's not in use. Just to save battery life. When a user then wants to do something active with the watch, it might feel extremely laggy until the processor kicks back to a normal clock speed. Just a theory on why we're all seeing this issue. 🤷‍♂️

@mlegrand
@mlegrand Год назад
I have this theory that Garmin, Polar and a few other companies are really slowing down the clock speeds of their processors when the watches ‘think’ they’re not in use to conserve battery life. Just discovered your channel. Great review. It seems that a lot of these watches are targeted towards the serious athlete. What would you recommend for someone who is an all-around fitness enthusiast? I'm not a runner or swimmer. I am mostly into hiking, mountain biking and strength training. For that reason I cannot justify spending more than $200-250 on a watch/fitness tracker. Just ordered a Forerunner 245 to try out. Going back to binge-watching your videos now😂

Just to comment on extra buttons, why would you need extra buttons if screen is touchscreen? The other multi buttons ones are not touch screen, so must have a few for better control. But yes, a choice of touch and buttons use would be best but would likely make the watch bulkier, heavier, more prone to issues and more expensive (the price went up a lot as it is...). Still, it is a great watch, mostly thanks to its most advanced sleep functions, likely on a whole market; I think you missed the chance to talk about it.
@mlegrand
@mlegrand Год назад
I think most of the Garmin watches (forerunner series for example) have buttons in addition to the touchscreen. It's a great user interface. I tend to use the buttons the most and just use the touchscreen for maps or widgets that lend themselves to touch. I wish all watches did it this way. Thanks Lukasz!

I really like the slim design but it doesn’t seem like it’s all that different from the Ignite 2…if the ignite 2 gets the sleep update, why would I upgrade to the 3 especially with the much bigger price tag? If I were to upgrade it would be to the pacer pro which could support my bike rides/training.
@mlegrand
@mlegrand Год назад
I do think the Pacer Pro is more suited to biking and training. But the Ignite is a big upgrade from the Ignite 2 in my opinion. The screen is so much sharper, better sleep tracking, duel band gps and the new heart rate tracking. But it’s a big bump in price. I wish it wasn’t such a drastic increase. 😬 Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
