Thank you for your review. I don’t think it really matters. What matters is that you made this video, Which no one else did. Amazing! These two filters are really the most interesting in my opinion. Well done.
Nice vid - I am in the market for a CP and so I'm shopping around. Reviews like this are helpful. Just for the sake of my pedantry, B+W stands for Biermann and Weber - as opposed to Black and White.
Hmm, Interesting review. From my experience the B+W filters have always given a more consistent result and less of a colour cast. I’ve stopped using PolarPro and much of the money seems to pay for their marketing and hype. I had more post production work correcting colour cast. Maybe they’re better now… It’s funny, as a certain group would be happy with Polar Pro, while another would got for a B+W. Happy days to all.
It's really not all that subjective. The B+W (BTW it actually stands for Biermann and Weber, not Black and White) has a noticeable blue tint while the Polar Pro seems to be more color neutral. In regards to filters vignette and color cast (plus image quality) are everything. You can always correct that in post processing, but then why bother with a filter?
Thanks for this video! I am also between these 2 filters... leaning towards the B+W mainly because they offer a 72mm. Have you done any more comparisons in the field with these 2? Still feel the same way?
In an age of mirrorless cameras, why aren't linear polarizing filters more popular? Why put an unnecessary quarter-wave-plate in front of your mirrorless?
@@kienobimedia it absolutely did! I was deciding on whether to get a polarizer for the A7s iii setup I just pulled the trigger on... now all I have to do is wait until january to receive it all! lol. Havea great day, man! I like your video style
Thank you! Question: Will the Polar Pro CP filter have better polarization performance than the combo ND/CP filters? If they’re the same, are you able to share the difference between ND8/16/64? I asked them directly and they were unable to answer, oddly! Thank you!
It is a great question! I'm not sure if it's better or not, but ND/CP filter definitely has the ND effect added without stacking the filter, which is a cool thing to have depending on situations (very bright outside). If you only use CP filter and it is super bright outside you have to stack another ND filter to cover the highlights, which might create vignette (from stacking). ND8/16/64 is just the different strength of filter (how many stops of light loss). I find this article is pretty helpful to understand this: lesdeuxpiedsdehors.com/en/nd-filter-in-photography/
I did not see you adjust the ring or get a 90degree angle shot from the sun which gives the full effect of the filter ... so it was a total flaw and bad advice... I think the nice package could contain visual poison.
Would you be able to test the polar pro vs the breakthrough x4 CPL? Can’t find any videos of them lol. Breakthrough has 300 day return period and no tax
I bought and tested the B+W CP filter and I found it hard and not pleasant to turn it, so slim it is. I may return it after I test the Polar Pro version. Is the Polar Pro easier since it's less slim ? On the video you say the contrary. Which one do you use now ?
@@kienobimedia I received the Polar Pro and kept it instead of the b+w which I found difficult to turn because of its slim format. Polar pro can be turned with just the thumb easily.
