It depends, I do both, if I feel the truck or UTV/ATV is going to be under too much load then I gear down - or low gear, if I want lots of wheel spin to move mud fast then high gear for sure, when stuck I use low gear. Dont' let the tree huggers convince you to not throw mud, it's part of the fun, allows you to get through areas with less damage as well.
To all you people saying he needs to lock the diff... It doesn't have a diff locker, it's a damn can am it's got visco lok, the rear tires need to lose traction before the front engages. This is why I love my grizzly I know that if I want four wheels spinning I can make all my wheels spin.
interesting, not sure if it is the same way now, this thing always has traction when I need it, except when then clutches got wet - - which is why I ended up getting stuck.
I've got a 1984 Suzuki Quadrunner lt185 and in first gear I have yet to get it stuck in anything. It plows through mud holes that get much bigger machines stuck with no problem. I'm not going to say it would be able to get through that mud hole better than your $20,000 machine, but I kinda think it can.
Is the irritating locker action when I was getting pulled out? I never notice the wheels locking in or out. If it was at that time it may have been that the clutches were full of mud and water - now that is irritating - subject of my next video.
utvs seem cool i kinda like em but for the price they just dont seem to perform as well as you would expect, ive got an old 300 bayou 4x4 and these trails dont look to bad to me if i was on that. i can see the appeal of the comfier seats and the cup holders and all that junk, but a 4 wheeler in my opinion is cheaper and just plain works beter
no you don,t need a bigger tires .. the reason why because you need to put low gear and find a perfect path .. plus you must maintain your lower speed to get better traction not to spin the tires
How do you find sludgehammer ? Do you know if they will fit the commander in 30". Is sludgehammer as good as the Gorilla Silverback Tire in deep mud ? I travel a lot alone in mud no trees to hook winch on so I need the best mud tire . I use bighorns on hard pack . I use 2 sets of wheels .
hey powermod what are you thoughts on the commander? I prefer the commander to the rzr but i'm a little hesitant over the non locking front diff. Did you fine your rzr got out of holes the commander got stuck in or about the same? Also where is this? I'm moving to richmond next year and looking for spots. Cheers keep it up!
