Paint or no paint, or dirty paint...The 4 wheel conversion looks so much better that the butt ugly three wheel version. Man you are off to a great start for a beautiful machine! Thanks for sharing!
Roudy I absolutely LOVE this setup. Highly recommend it. One thing I love more than anything else is being different from everyone else and this does it.
Sadly, like most other things, they are up in cost right now. A lot of parts are backed up. Ect. But you can sometimes still get a good deal on a slightly used one
I do all of my own paint, installs and a lot of fabrication but the rear end is built by a ship that sells them. I just painted it and installed it. ;)
The kit itself was $6k. But then add another 500-1500 ($1500 for the 3.91 LSD for me) for the differential, add labor for assembly and paint (I assembled and painted it myself), then add $ for new rims/tires ($2k for me) or pick up a used stock rear rim/tire.
I do all of my own work so its a bit different for me. But the kit was $6k, the differential was $500. The rims and tires were $2k. There are other differential options. Typically a 3.27 will run $500, a 3.45 will run $1k and a 3.91 will run $2k. I did my own paint, assembly and installation so you have to factor that is also. My paint is a 3 stage with high solids clear.
Almost all of the parts are GM parts which means they are easy to find if you need replacements. Cost? Mine was around $6500 for bare pieces. So add that plus primer, paint, assembly and installation. My 3.27 LSD was around $400 but the 3.45 and lower gearsets can double that price. Then add another $2k for rims/tires and again, more paint if you paint yours to match? Some people just buy a stock rear wheel and keep it simple.
Before the rims and tires? About 25. But now? About 21. I have a 3.27 LSD and could get better with a 3.92 because those tires are 32" I think. Of course how you drive it makes a difference too!
