That's really strange, I'm not too sure why that would happen. The only thing I can think of is if you aren't turning the flash off in daylight and therefore it's isolating the subject? I've never experienced that! I would definitely suggest contacting Polaroid about that because that's really weird!

@@sjanalogclub3332 I did some research. To put it plainly, Polaroid’s quality of film is not what it used to be. Apparently there’s a 3rd party that makes compatible film at better quality but it’s pricey. We returned it. Best Buy was really cool, we had used a roll of the included film and started a 2nd to see if the 1st had just been a bad roll, they refunded everything. We ordered a Fuji, photo quality is better. Similar to what’s in my old photo albums. It looks retro but it should. Basically from what I’ve gathered it’s vintage Polaroid or a disappointment. But it’s a gift for someone to use casually so there’s no point investing at that level. Hope you had a good holiday

Do you know what name the 3rd party of the film is that’s better? I’ve had the same issues everything was coming out so dark so I’ve returned it

@@FragginCap polaroid camera nor film quality was never good or up to par with fuji film. If i get a polaroid i expect that it wont be the ideal photograph, but it will most likely have a cool vibe. Thats the whole jist of it. Fuji film is definitely more stable and reliable. Also, it if you shoot somebodys face, inside or outside use flash. If you are outside and its anything but bright midday, shoot with light compensation all turned up. This sounds like beginner mistakes that someone does on their first batch of film. We all screw the first pack up. But if you already returned it; this is irrelevant

Glad we could help! And that's a great idea, we will definitely keep that in mind for a future video. And the camera sets the exposure it "thinks" it needs automatically, so there is no way to set it to be brighter or darker. However, if we make another video, we could experiment more in different light settings throughout the day to see how well the camera does in different light! :) Thank you for your comment!

S & J Analog Club If you hold the flash button the camera will show the exposure settings. From low to regulair and high. The only vary half a stop. Try it! Ooh and did you guys ever clean the rollers? Could you perhaps make a tutorial about it?

I agree, even though the Polaroid company was revived with what is claimed to be the same chemical process as before (I think?), old Polaroids that I have seen do appear way sharper, also different color palette than the films available today. I have some old Polaroids of my dad from the 70s and 80s that are so clear and colors look more true to life.

@@sjanalogclub3332 it’s actually not the same formula, many chemicals were banned after OG Polaroid shutdown so the current company had to completely reinvent a process for instant photography. It’s a work still in progress!

This camera doesn't give you the option to change the exposure, it gauges it by itself and to be honest, it's pretty good at it, so that was technically untouched! It all depends on if the light is hitting your subject or not. I was actually surprised that photo came out so well lit, but I think it's also because of the neon. Just remember that if something looks pretty dark to your eye, it'll likely be a few shades darker on a polaroid.

Hi there! Apologies for the incredibly late response, the blue highlights could possibly be a temperature issue, sometimes when you are shooting in cold conditions the chemistry in the film can produce blueish color shifts (and when it's hot, the color will shift orange), but I'm not totally sure. I would try checking out Polaroid's FAQ of common issues on their website, you might find something there! And overexposure could just be the result of a really bright scene, but it really just depends on the scenario. Hope that helps! - Shayna

There’s also an exposure setting they forgot to mention or didn’t know about, if you hold down the flash button you can choose between overexpose, regular, underexpose. It changes the shutter speed to allow more or less light in. Definitely a game changer for taking pics outside

Hi! Unfortunately this camera doesn't have that feature, they actually have a separate product that does that called the Polaroid Lab and you can print polaroids from photos on your phone with it :)

At night, definitely use the flash!

Aw thank you! It does take practice and a couple trial runs with polaroids especially. I suggest shooting mostly in bright daylight and then switch to other light settings (within one pack of film) to determine what types of light your camera does best with. Good luck :)

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about that! No, that's never happened to me with this camera. Perhaps there was an issue with the motor in the camera or the shutter... I would say to try and check Polaroid's FAQ on their site to see if they have any troubleshooting tips relating to that issue. If they don't, then I'd definitely suggest contacting them about it! I hope you can get it fixed! :/

Hi! Sorry for the late response! The flash was off in every photo except for the last one of the two of us. :)

Hey, I believe it was on, but since the subject was pretty far away, it didn't make much of a difference in that photo!

We scan the polaroids on a flatbed scanner, epson v600 :)

So this camera does not have an exposure adjust button, because it is supposed to calculate it on its own. It's actually pretty good at it, I have not blown out any photos, and as we mentioned in the video, the flash is very neutral and appropriate for what you'll be shooting. Basically you just let the camera do its thing! For reference though, use flash if you'll be in a particularly dark area, but otherwise, it exposes great in bright sunlight and most shade situations without flash.

@@missliss25 if you hold the flash-button it switches to exposure adjust-mode. On the screen you see a line. If you push the button again it goes up (+1 exposure), middle (normal mode) and down (-1 exposure) When you’re done adjusting hold the button again, you wil see the film-number again

If the camera is theirs, they can shoot whatever they want. It is photography, no rules.
