Another big shoutout to Joep (@joeppolaroidphotography) and Jay (@thepolaroidjay) for popping into this video! Absolute legends. Also, you can join the fun going on at the In An Instant Patreon at Patreon.com/inaninstantchannel. Have a round day!!
@@InAnInstant as the lonely island song goes. "IM NOT PART OF THE SYSTEM!!!!! I THREW IT ON THE GROUND!!!!!" You can't buy me round Polaroid maaaannnn!!! (No Polaroid cameras were harmed in the making of this comment)
Every time I click on one of your videos I always forget that you dont have hundreds of thousands as the quality you guys put on is incredible. Never stop your good work !
Can’t wait for your take on the Polaroid go!!!! Just pre ordered mine!!! Can’t wait ,, was just putting a instax square in my eBay cart when I heard the news from Polaroid.... another case of perfect timing.... I’m super curious if the new film is actually captiva film.... this is exciting!!!!
Great video as usual !!!! And oh, I bought a SLR 680 from Retrospekt, love it. And of course I just ordered 3 packs of round film to go with it and my fridge full of 600 and SX-70 stuff. Thanks again !!
Really hoping I can get a lil slice of this action down unda, fingers and toes are crossed - love to see Polaroid bringing back some loved stocks and pushing the hype meter to its limits
Wonderful video as ever. Was browsing after ordering the film and wondering what your take is on the lens set for the SX-70 and other accessories (but mostly the lens set).
there were classic cameras that made only circle pictures(not by post production mod) But where there any cameras making naturally triangles? not talking polaroid ofc
Should we expect a new camera from Polaroid soon? I’ve been thinking about getting one but I’m afraid that if I do right now I’ll regret it because they’ll drop a “new product” bomb 💣 what would you do, wait a bit or acquire one from the current selection available?
It was their mistake to use the word "peeled" on Instagram. They haven't had peel-apart machinery for decades. We don't know for sure, but it seems like Fujifilm disassembled the last remaining machinery years ago, didn't sell it to anyone and isn't planning on it. It might have been destroyed for good 😕
if you'd join IAI discord( discord.gg/YFRxvTsJ ) you would know that this will be circle film, so join right now to don't have nasty suprises like that in the future! 😉
@@filmhowyalike yup! Also Goapele, Steve Lacy, Gavin Turek, Flying Lotus, Teebs, Dumbfoundead, Waka Flocka and Danny Brown (when he got his teeth fixed).
Its different yes but a round frame just seems like you lose a good portion of the film So why not make a different film type like sepia toned film or perhaps try bringing back a different film type such as roll film? And before you say they cant do roll film there is always a way for them to do something its just if they do it or not is the thing as they could take the plastic (positive) layer then the film (negative) layer and make it into sheets with the pods on the positive side to make a integral roll film
It’s mostly a matter of them losing money vs making money. Machinery costs an obscene amount of money, something like roll film would kill them financially. Round frame is more than losing image information IMO, it’s offering a different option for people who like it without hurting the company.
@@InAnInstant not saying the machinery isnt expensive but im sure there is a cheap way of doing it But a different toned print or possibly infrared film would be better since it would bring a more interesting aspect to shooting the film format
Personally I don’t like it as much, just because you lose a little bit of image compared to square images. You kinda get a little less in terms of actual image realestate.
@@ReillyCoad I just saw a post on Facebook where Polaroid replied to a customer saying this will be a core product from now on, not a limited edition, and it will be back with some regularity. As of now it is an "online exclusive" only on their website. It sounds like they will make it regularly, but it might not be available at all times. Sorry for my previous misleading reply 😅
Worth clarifying that this Round film and Spectra are unrelated. Different machines, different pods/film construction. Spectra’s issues and discontinuation are unrelated to the production of special 600-type films like this.
It's been a while since polaroid came in packs of 10 vs 8. I get your frustration, but this isn't something new. I hope one day they can offer packs cheaper, but for now I'm content with buying a few packs at a time and picking my shots.
Lol, not the first reaction I’ve seen like this. This is a limited edition film that requires greater resources to produce - the fact that it has less surface area is inconsequential to its cost (in this case). This is a very unique film that you can’t get elsewhere. It’s not a slap in the face to anyone, Polaroid’s only making this because fans demanded it. Like Paulo said, if ya don’t dig it ya don’t gotta buy it!
