Great video, Marco!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I got my SX-70 two weeks ago and I am very excited. The opacity issues are very frustrating. The rollers are very clean so, I know it is not the camera. I am shooting with film from March 2019, sent directly by Polaroid Originals. My last cartridge had only one with the white streaks. So I am improving on covering the sheets. Still it is frustrating to have so an unstable product compared to Instax.

Excellent. I used my SX-70 Autofocus in the 1980s while doing Voluntary Service Overseas. It made me lots of friends! It takes Polaroid 600 film by cutting off a tab on the cartridge, plus a neutral density filter over the lens. No gain in shutter speed, though I preferred the colour, and time exposures with a tripod indoors worked, without the ND filter. It has a separate hammerhead type electronic flash, which is nice for fill-in or kicker lighting, with a handkerchief over it.

When you removed the film cartridge at 5:30, did the remaining pictures got exposed to light or the cartridge still keeps them sealed ? From my memory the 600 cartridge should not be removed from the camera once inserted (once the dark slide comes out) until you finished all pictures, otherwise the remaining pictures get exposed to ambient light and are lost. Once way to transfer a cartridge into another camere before it's finished would be to do this inside a dark room, but it's not guaranteed the second camera will properly operate the transferred cartridge because it has no dark slide to eject - it may or may not work
@roberthandel6534
@roberthandel6534 4 года назад
I'm curious about this also. I'm assuming you can't switch cartridges halfway through shooting (say I have a few sheets of color left and I want to switch to B&W) without exposing the rest of the film in the used cartridge? I wonder if there's a way to re-insert the darkslide so you can remove the cartridge in a changing bag or darkroom and then use it again later
@Peppermint1
@Peppermint1 4 года назад
@@roberthandel6534 I doubt the dark slide can be placed back in a dark room - perhaps may try placing it back when the cartridge is empty, in a room with light see if it works. Otherwise, not sure the second camera will operate properly because it will try to push out the dark side, I wonder too what will it do if it doesn't 'feel' a dark slide. Maybe it will work, but not sure. Perhaps the easier is to transfer the cartridge when there's only 2 pictures left, see if it works, if it doesn't work you loose only two pictures - I would have at least two pictures because the camera may try to eject one of them thinking it's the dark slide, so can shoot the remaining one, see if it works

What is the best way to clean the glass inside the camera above the film cartridge? I picked up my SX 70 at a yard sale for $7 and I loved using it when the original film and flash bars were available. Good to know there is an electronic flash available. I still have one of the original flash bars. I would carry it in my back pocket and occasionally use it to meet girls! It was always a hit.

Hey there, love your channel. I have a question about an SX-70 I've had for a while now. It's been sitting in my closet for a little more than a year with no film inside of it. Long story short, the camera only works properly when I push the metal arm back (as if I were going to close the camera). It appears that when the arm is locked in place, the camera does not work properly (the shutter button causes shutter to open and close but never ejects a picture). I was wondering if you knew how to fix it?

I have a camera going back to the 1970’s. When the film got hard to find I shelved the camera. I took a look at it once I saw your web site and searched online (in Europe) for a vender. I ordered a film pack (only one) because I was fearful the white powder coating the tan colored leather might have harmed the camera. It tasted slightly acidic to me, like vitamin C, just a little acidic. How do I clean this white powder off?

You can if you use a changing bag, I guess. But if you take out the cartridge midway through you'll surely burn one picture and most likely damage the others with light leaks
