Thanks I am new at pole fishing and I have just ordered a 10 m margin pole I have decide to tie my on pole rig that I know what shoting patterns to use thanks to Jamie and the funny lad
Jamie I tried your shotting pattern at Partridge yesterday, on an margin mud line and was amazed at how quick fish vacate the swim know lifting in involved . Thanks for that idea
Where I fish it's about 4 foot in the margins and I always catch far more by feeding regularly with 4mm pellets and fishing with a light float on the drop rather than anchoring a bait to the deck. I never get line bites while fishing the margins this way and they take the bait far more positively too. It works for me. Obviously you'd struggle fishing this way in margins that were less than 18 inches deep.
Great Video as always! Just a quick question - Like the Larford Video are you pluming 4 or5 inches over depth on the rig where you can't get up against the bank to achieve the curve in the line?
Have you considered using a short length of tungsten tubing on the base of the float stem to reduce the number of shot on the line - reducing the float from carrying 8 No 8s to 5 or 6 instead? The tubing would also increase the stability of the float, as a wire stem would. Around 15mm of tungsten tubing could be the same weight as a couple of No8 shot.
Not change, but just be open to the option of using spread shot on a slightly overdepth rig (plumbed up to a float-length extra line below the float), and then holding the rig on a tight line - have another watch of the Larford margin fishing video for a better explanation.
Thanks for sharing and explaining the methods guys all makes sense and can see why we make simple mistakes. Just to ask like at Heronbrook where it's deep across could this method would work too
Andy, Andy, Andy, STOP making out you’re a rubbish angler lol, I have said before and I will say it again mate, you are still one of the best anglers on the circuit and you are respected by all, I just wish I was as rubbish as you 😂😂😂 🎣 also remember Jamie use to be a fish 🐠
