I’m a farmer in the mid-lands and found one behind the bails in our barn. Unfortunately it had died but only recently as it was still warm, it had probably been living around there hunting the rats

You got the scientific name of the occidental ferret completely wrong, its correct scientific name is actually Putorius putorius.
