We went from Denmark to France and back this summer in P2 LRSM, 19 in wheels with summer tires. We went 120-130 km/h on motorway and drove 3600 km in total. Efficiency readings on the way down were 18.8 kWh/100 km and 19.3 on the way back. Total power charged were 729 kWh, which averages consumption of 20.0 kWh/100 km.

Did 590 km in one run (with stop for charging and food),dual motor long range. Average consumption 16.8 kwh/100 km. The trip was done in the west of Norway with 3 mountain pass all over 1200 m.a.s and all up and down to sea level. Speed was 65 km/h in average according to speedometer and all the range was done by following the speedlimit + 5 km/h on all the trip.

Just returned from a weekend trip with a Polestar 2 LRDM from Zurich over the Gotthard pass (2’100 m above sea) to Locarno in Switzerland: 410 km without charging, 13% residual SOC (consumption of 15.6 kWh/100 km). ❤

@@homomorphic Nobody said anything in that direction. It was a mix with highways up to 120 km/h and curvy mountain pass roads.

@@marcel3045 the test to which you were comparing was done at 70mph. I would imagine the majority of your trip was at around 45mph (given that I have a DMLR I have a pretty good feell

@@homomorphic Could be, can‘t comment on that. But keep in mind that the air density und thus consumption at 2000 m above sea is roughly 20% lower. Average height was probably at around 1000 m, and it was quite warm, too, so I would expect about 10 to 15% lower consumption than in Kris‘ test at similar speed. Amazingly, that alone converts to about 2-3 kWh/100 km lower consumption.

I would say a car fares pretty well if it achieves 60% or more of the WLTP since you conduct your tests only in the "high" and "very high" categories of the official test procedure.

Exactly. The WLTP is a mix of drives, city and highway. When you do a run where the average speed is above 110km/h and still achieve 60% or more I'd say that's pretty impressive. What I dislike in this video is that the reviewer doesn't mention any of this, simply compares a WLTP test range directly with the flawed test he just did. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tires impact your consumption as well as pressure and rim size. Summer tires are significantly more efficient than winther tires and efficiency can vary a lot from one manufactor to the other. New tires are less efficient than tires that are driven in. Tires could probably impact results up to +/- 10%.

What about local, non-motorway range tests for EVs? Most people drive their EVs most of the time "around town", commuting to/from work, stores, church, restaurants, clubs, etc. -- and mostly at speeds < 40 mph (70 km/hr). I find that my range is often 50% more when driving only locally and keeping my speeds under, say, 70 or 75 km/hr. Why don't you *also* do range tests where you don't drive > 75 or 80 km/hr? This would give lots of us some more "real world" data points, in addition to the highway testing!

Test if Porsche sw update gives more range and of course the new MG4. EQE (non AMG) could also be a worthwhile test or ID5 non-GTX.

You only used 53% for those 213,8km. If calculating with that, you would have been able to drive about 403km on a full battery. In my experience, the percentage is actually more "correct" than the consumption numbers in the car.

Imo experience the % varies depending on a whole bunch of factors and is a very unreliable way to calculate range. It is very different from car to car as well how the % behaves.

@@KrisRifa Yeah, different from cars but for the Polestar it's rather good. I have a DMLR. :) What I have noticed is that the consumption number can show a bit higher than what it really should be sometimes.

Consumption seems high even for highway cruising. Were you running air-conditioning/heater? Is it the model with the heat pump ir not? These factors would bump your kw/100 and are probably worth noting to viewers if they were a factor. I've done long trips and while cold does affect battery, i can get avg of 16kw/100kms and a range around 450-480kms on a single charge.

Of course the HVAC system was running, who the heck drives their car without it running? Yes, this car has a heat pump. Consumption is low compared to other PS2's previously tested, and also from my experience doing more than 20tkm in PS2's. 16kWh/100km is fine and all, but you're not gonna get anything close to that with this average speed.

I get 450-480 km in summer and 400km in mild winter. Not sure how you get such low range

You’re not getting that with an average speed of 116,7kph. With they range you are talking about consumption as low as 15,1kWh/100km. You’d be hard pressed to get that with an average speed of 70kph, so not even close to motorway speeds.

@@trinitonv8 Alle har forskjellige preferanser, for meg er rekkevidde #1 prio og da er de ekstra kr selvfølgelig verdt det 👍🏼 Den gjør det utrolig godt på NAF testene mens alle andre Polestar eiere er smått misfornøyde, forståelig nok 😔 Hadde kjøpt den igjen idag og imorgen.. Men men, kun min personlige mening. Videre god søndag!
