+Franck Ferrante Agreed. So many amazing things that she saw. I thought it would be a Bishop move when Mato asked us to pause, I totally missed anything with the Knights.
Mato's voice is one of a kind. Almost erry and chilling at the start. Makes you think you are going to be watching a horror movie at the start. He keeps your interest throughout the game and makes all these videos enjoyable. Well done. :)
YOUR PRESENTATION OF THESE VIDEOS IS MATCHLESS-I AM A VERY AVERAGE CHESS PLAYER,YOU CONVEY YOUR PERSPECTIVE IN A WAY THAT EVEN A LAYMAN UNDERSTANDS,THANKS MATO!
+scambodia147 Mato is great. I like Kingscrusher too but his videos tend to be longer and he tends to wander around a bit too much sometimes. Mato gets straight to the point.
Yes, i like Kingcrusher. He offers more extensive insights into possible alternative lines, which will suit some, but with Mato it is easier follow the actual game. Jerry of Chess Network is excellent too. We are lucky to have such fine and also calm and amiable commentators.
What a great game! Thanks for the video. Would love to see more. This is like the site Best Chess Games Ever Played, except I can sit back and watch them! Perfect level of analysis too.
Pozdrav dobri Mato!
This is a common thought process mistake, saying "no" when you really mean "yes, but...". It's more useful and more accurate to think in the latter form, I find.
Polgar is a beast on the chess board. And she has proof to back it up! Its sad that Kasparov and some of the other male chess players get away with saying negative things about the women players immediately after they lose.
This game after watching years of matojelic videos is probably the most...can anyone help me finish the sentence? almost 'impossible to predict next move' circumstance perhaps. amazing
Judit went to a tournament in your hometown Adelaide when she was 10,probably she wasn´t very famous in that time(1986),but did u see that tournament Mato?
Mato. I absolutely love your videos and it has helped me improve a lot. My sincere thanks to you for hooking me up to chess after a long time. I'd like to share one interesting game I recently played and get your thoughts. I noticed an admin email id in the profile. Shall I send it to that id and would you be able to have a quick look?
Shirov resigned because he was beaten both on the board and psychologically. He was doubtless expecting an easy win over a WGM and instead found himself in the middle of a tactical storm complete with a queen sacrifice. The fact that he managed to avoid all the traps doesn't lessen Polgar's accomplishment.
It's quite funny that Shirov has only lost this game to Judit in the g4-line (if I'm not wrong this is called the Keres Attack)! They've played 5 games with this line Judit won 1, Shirov won 2 and 2 draws! :D The game with Kasparov two month before this game ended in a draw! ;)
+MusikPiratat CH It is Keres attack but big difference is Black Knight has not developed to f6. g5 pawn sacrifice by Judit however was an extra ordinary move and suddenly White who has more pieces developed, more space on King side and surrounding the King all as per logic and theory become vulnerable with 2 Knights and a Bishop far away on b7.!!
Not officially the Keres attack, since it comes out of the Taimanov. Maybe a transposition, or maybe just following the same principles (e.g. Yugoslav vs English attack).
Go back to 1:09... Black hasn't even gotten out of the "start holes" yet... Guess White didn't expect all that counter-action 10 moves later! ;O) ... Where Black has won a Rook and a better pawn structure for a Bishop... g5 is no less than epic... and English doesn't provide words for Ne3!!! JUDITH: WILL YOU MARRY ME???!!!
Genious ! Judit Polgar ,a woman ,had perhaps 3 balls and 3 brains to play such a game ! I imagin that great players like B.Fischer ,M.Tal, G.Kasparov and even the last champions would have sleep problems and nightmares before playing against her ! What do you think Mato and do you have other games of Polgar against those GMs ?
Why did Shirov resign? I see white playing for instance BxB NxB Kxf4 Ne6+ Kany Nxg7 Rg8 and after that, well it's not great for Black but it's not game over.
Kasparov being rude to everyone? Well I can't imagine what childhood he had. Seriously though he got humbled AFTER being beaten instead of respecting the competition he goes against before answering a question.
I think that after all that trading nonsense and moving your king to the middle of the board, it's pretty lame of Shirov to resign instead of playing it through. Judit had some really sharp moves in the game though; perhaps Shirov felt she was pushing him around the board.
***** I look at it this way: if I'm not sacrificing at least 2 pieces, then I'm not playing aggressively enough. But, then, a chap named Tal is my idol.
