You think it’s a joke, but it’s really not. Been saying this for the longest time. Neighborhood Watch simply existing and being seriously enforced by virtuous Black peoples would bring us closer together in an incredibly short time. The Civil Rights movement was only accepted by this White government because it made it easier for us to assimilated. We needed EQUITY not equality. When you blend everybody together, the chances of you ever being forced to address the needs of a specific group are greatly diminished. Separation tactics have been utilized against Black peoples for about as long as enslaved people’s have been tilling the soil. They DON’T want you to have community. They DON’T want you to get an education and change your city with everything you’ve learned. They DON’T want you have upward mobility outside of the avenues THEY create for you and your people. I’m genuinely impressed that it was Lewis Belt out of ALL the other Black comics to have a perspective like this. I’m proud of my people, but if they don’t wake up and band together; slavery is surely certain.
