Going down the road of not approving concerts with a specific artiste billed is not the best way to go even though I can understand the police's position in the face of their grief over the loss of their colleague. Based on the lyrics "lick down police a groun' , the police might be able to file a criminal case for incitement to violence.
Why didn't you attack the people dem that stop Buju from singing a certain song? TOK have to stop singing chi chi chi man, how you never attack that? Every body have police strength. Kmft
Come on he didn't say he was going to ban the artist,he said he won't grant any permit that he is performing on,and of course he has that power to grant or not to grant a permit,
They stopped Buju, Sizla and TOK from talking about the alphabet people, they were expressing their opions. Oh, i forgot to mention fireman Capleton, in the afore mentioned. They have all since bowed at the altar of the alphabet altar. Talk about the artists who were censored, or you are selective about who you defend. I thought you had to get authority from the police to stage any party, stageshow etc.
That is a lie. He didn't say anything about banning the artist. He ssid he is not signing any permit regarding performance from the artist in St. James. He don't have to sign it.
@119Nine: There is a significant deal of doubt regarding what constitutes free speech in our society, and the borders and boundaries are not well defined, thus problems may arise if not adequately considered before implementation. But free speech does not mean freedom to say anything one wants regardless of its consequences. Just like how free speech does not give anyone the right to call out fire in a crowded theater just because one feels like it. "Free speech comes with responsibility and that responsibility includes not inciting harm or violence to others." However, while it is perfectly right to tell someone you cannot say that here, and if you do you will be asked to leave, or you are not allowed to perform here because you sing songs that incite hurt or violence towards others. It is a whole different ball game if it denies them a chance to ply their trade even when they agree not to use words to incite violence or hurt others. Hence, freedom of speech is a double-edged sword that must be wielded with utmost caution by those wishing to implement it in any social space because it cuts both ways.
You have a point but it’s incorrect., it’s the same for the same. It’s language semaitics . The artist does have a right like all the other artists who’s said such including movie makers. Can’t stop the artist that way. Do it correctly, simple. Police must be protected but they can’t abuse freedom.
This man had no clue about what him is saying. The only people this man can educated its some dunce. No one is above the laws. Yes the police can band someone are a show the courts are not a circus. Lawyers are just going to eats him money for nothing.
119 .while I respect many of your views .please don't encourage these slack dancehall artists and toxic behavior. Jamaica is out of control and have no respect for law .come on breda
You're too damn dishonest, the police never said anything about banning the artist but said they will not approve any permit for this artist to perform in St James. Big difference you're a disgrace.
The police never said the entertainer could not perform. He made it clear that where ever the artist having a show, none of the police from that area would be willing to work. The speech by the police was released, so any and everyone can and could listen it.
