@@TheKingsGuardsChannelI’ve seen many horses in 2 lines formation before like this 39:28 . Just imagine if they charge towards you. You’re done for. It would be amazing to see the French Republican Cavalry Guards as well being part of it. So you would have a glimpse of the Napoleonic War

The riders wearing the “unusual” headdress are representative of many old cavalry regiments that no longer exist or are now armoured only, Regiments such as Lancers, Hussars & the guy in the bear skin is a member of Scots Grays. Many RU-vid’s to view regarding cavalry regiments of old.

Interesting to have a reminder of what wartime was like when it was mostly done by foot and on horseback. Just the dust kicked up invoked the reality of how dirty things would get and just how difficult it must have been to keep sight of your compatriots. Gave me a new appreciation for my uncle who was in the cavalry during WWII. I enjoy seeing the ceremonies that have been passed down through the generations. It’s a good reminder of what soldiers went through to bring us to our current lives.

That was the best ever! It was interesting to see the many uniforms. Some awesome headdress was new to me. Noticed two guards in a back row not wearing silver breastplates like others but they were carrying axes (?). They're probably called something different. Loved it all. Thanks so so much!

Those are the farriers. The axes have a rather gruesome history. All horse troopers have an ID number carved into their front hoof. In the old days if a horse died in battle the farrier would use his axe to remove the hoof as formal ID. Thankfully that doesn't happen now, it's just ceremonial!

@@Lavendar_Rose7 It sure does. I'm afraid it was the horsey equivalent of having dog tags removed from a fallen soldier. The Household Cavalry horses all have the rank of Trooper and the magnificent drum horses are Majors!

The different uniforms of the inspection party are so interesting as I believe every item about them has significance. The axes were used to despatch injured horses in the wars when horses were used. Removed the hoof which had a number on to know which one. They still have numbers on their front hoof today with which regiment. Think they might be the farriers.
