It's great how both you and the AI are subject to the physics in chases which makes it equally unpredictable. I'm used to NFS' fully controlled physics and rubber banding AI so this looks so realistic.
I'd been waiting for this update for years! I'd never tried beamng before because there was no vr and I was used to vr on assetto corsa. I'm so glad vr is finally here, I bought the game as soon as I heard it had vr. At first I was disappointed because I had a lot of trouble setting up the game so that vr would run smoothly, but now it's fine, it could still be improved in future updates, but it's already good enough, I'm having so much fun, it's so good!
Ah yes thank you for reminding me they added a VR mode to BeamNG! I remember seeing the update but it's been so long since I used VR I forgot they added it. Gotta try it soon
Overall the original Assetto Corsa is still my favorite motorsports sim. I think it has some of the best Force Feedback, Wheel support, VR support and mod-ability of any racing sim. I've put like 500+ hours into it. VR is perfect for racing sims
I've read several comments on Steam about the troubled vr support, which is why I'll probably wait a bit longer to buy the game. Looks already good though, I already see myself cruising around while listening to music.
It's really nice to see this update but the realism comes with a cost, the LOD of the enviroment. The heavy pop in kills immersion for me as I tend to notice it in an instant. On a monitor screen it's the same but not as noticable as if you were in the game like in VR. There is a mod that lets you cramp up the lod but then even the 4090 says "nope, I am out". Since BeamNG is still in EA and on version 0.3.0 I hope it gets more optimisation as it's a fun car sim.
Yes, the lod is pretty bad, but with this mod if you set it to 250 it'll be the best compromise allowing you to get something decent (not perfect but so much better) without eating up too much fps. I've got a rtx 2080 S and I manage to get between 45 and 75 fps on the Italy map for example. I deactivate ambient oclusion, reflection at minimum, normal lighting quality, very low shadow quality, low texture quality. It's important to keep an eye on your vram to make sure it's not saturated during the game, always restart the game after changing graphics settings, launch VR mode from the game menu and not after loading the map.
This looks very interesting, especially the open world with AI traffic which is what I like the most. Is there an option to show hands on the steering wheel, I'd really like that, it's kind wierd without hands.
I find it funny that when your crashing your just acting all neutra😂 just wondering, where you using a steering wheel when you where playing or where you using a keyboard?
