MILWAUKEE - A search warrant filed on Friday said Milwaukee's Asian gangs committed 140 violent crimes against each other just in the last few years.
It's gotten so bad that federal investigators are now involved.
The search warrant gives us a good idea of what police think a gang called the Menace of Destruction, whose members are young Hmong-American men, is doing throughout the city of Milwaukee.
Members wear red and are at war with the city's other big Asian gang, the Asian Crips, who wear blue.
But Menace of Destruction members are also at war with the Milwaukee Police Department. The search warrant claims gang members threatened to kill two members of the Milwaukee Police Department's gang unit, even spray painting the officers' names on the walls inside the gang member's homes.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, which is now the lead agency on the case, said the gangs are not just infiltrating Milwaukee's streets. The ATF said their investigation spans several states.
The search warrant said the gang members communicate via the Internet, sending each other messages through Web sites like MySpace and RU-vid. On RU-vid you can watch alleged gang members, all wearing red, rap about violence.
An ATF spokesman tells TODAY'S TMJ4 investigators are trying to arrest gang members for drug dealing and gun trafficking. Their investigation is ongoing.
