Indiana investigators credit 22-year-old bystander Elisjsha Dicken, who was legally armed, for fatally shooting the suspected gunman before more people were killed. READ MORE: abcn.ws/3cqlLrM #ABCNews #MassShooting #Indiana
A couple things that weren’t mentioned in this video, but that I have seen elsewhere, and were striking to me: 1.) Eli Dicken fired 10 shots from 40 yards in 15 seconds, and hit on 8 of them. That is an incredible display of marksmanship, especially in a high-pressure situation. 2.) Eli’s 19-y/o girlfriend who is in nursing school immediately applied a tourniquet to a woman hit in the leg in order to stop the bleeding. She is also a hero who remained calm under pressure and did what needed to be done to save a life! Sadly, I don’t recall her name, I need to find the source I viewed earlier. But a big “thank you” to that hero as well!
Dude, I hit the range all the time. With a rifle I can hit 40 yards easy. With concealed carry pistol in an insanely stressful situation at 40 freakin yards and landing 8 of 10... That's otherworldly. That kid is a national treasure
The pressure would be a boon in such a situation, adrenaline flow makes even the hardest of things easily attainable. Not to detract from what he did, but I'm just saying.
@@nathanwilliams3877 you’re right that adrenaline can help you in *some* high pressure situations. In terms of gross motor skills and feats of strength or endurance it will definitely be a boon, but adrenaline is also responsible for a *loss of fine motor skills- for example accurately aiming and carefully pulling the trigger of a pistol*.
@@justinbutler8418 yeah like adrenaline packed police shootings. A good amount of times the police miss and the suspect miss due to panic and blood pumping adrenaline Composure is very important I agree
My daughter was standing near Eli with her family. It is something our family will never forget, my heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. The gratitude I have for Eli is immeasurable. 💙
@@Ivan.A.Trulyuski yeah the politician's are going to make it safe criminal shooters like him, armed citizen is a hero. They want your guns, all of them.
he actually took the man down in 15 seconds total from 40 YARDS, this man was an absolute unit and a perfect example why people need to be armed and trained. so we can stop stuff like this from happening.
If there was stricter gun laws, there wouldnt be a need for that because the dangerous person wouldnt of had access to a gun. Many other countries understand this, yet America is still woefully behind
@@zoe9190 So that's where you fail to understand this I can see already. Other countries Never had it to where their citizens could access arms freely, so yes it was regulated and a normal persons would have to go through severe checks and such. or just keep them from them in general. The issue with trying to pass the same thing here though, is people for decades have been allowed to own guns, use guns, and such to their free will. They are everywhere, distributed and untagged everywhere. So unless you go on a hyper crusade and find EVERY single gun that was ever made, it doesn't matter how strict the laws are, there will be undocumented guns floating around that were made before such laws. and when you have laws where normal people can't acquire one anymore, you're just making people defenseless against the array of amounts of guns already out there. So yes, gun laws in general around the world make it harder for criminals to get a hold of them. But in America, where for so long it was easier and more tangible for a normal person to get one, it would be hay day for criminals to attack people cause they are now defenseless to someone who cares nothing about the law and will 100% have ways to find undocumented guns somewhere.
@@zoe9190 Guns can be 3D printed these days. Stricter gun laws would make it harder for criminals to get guns, but would ultimately only stop good guys from getting them.
It only took 1 Elisjsah Dickens to save people's lives. He's a hero. Uvalde Texas law enforcement had 400 grown men, but sadly none of them were brave like Elisjsha.
They might have been. They definitely got improper orders to stand down, and at the moment I am convinced they had been told it was a drill. Look at the corridor footage from Uvalde. One of the cops there stops to use hand sanitizer. Who would do that if they thought they were in danger from a crazed gunman? Another cop has just been phoned by his teacher wife that she has been shot, and he just stands there. Who reacts like that? I'm not the manliest guy, but I'm going in in that sit. Parker, you crash through the window to flank me! Charge! To me it was either the most evil false flag operation in years where all the cops were in on it, or they were being kept deliberately misinformed about what was happening. The latter sounds more likely to me. All the procedures were violated, which is the best indicator there is that it was a facilitated, staged event. The FBI had the fruitcake ready and all they had to do was arm him and point him in a direction. That was not a normal situation. The black hand comes down and before you know it you're the Uvalde police just standing there while little kids are being executed.

This young mans bravery is outstanding, He pushed his girlfriend away and Went willing to engage an active shooter, rather than just leave, He Went for the threat to save others....God bless you, and if you read this, You are a Hero and people went home to their loved ones because of you.
The term hero gets thrown around, mostly directed to folks who are merely doing what they’re paid to do. This young man is a true hero and should be officially recognized as such by his town, state and Washington.
A lot of young men are fearless. I was an iraq veteran by the time I was his age. When you're young you havent learned the hard way yet on how fragile your health is you think you're indestructible.
40 yards with a glock 10 shots fired, with 8 hitting the intended target, while under pressure and stress knowing missing his target meant probably drawing fire from the shooter upon himself had he missed, and not having any of his shots become friendly fire harming anyone other than the shooter in the process. Yeah, I 100% believe his actions and the aftermath deem him a true marksman, and hero.

2 minutes...at 40 yards....with a pistol. Anyone who shoots knows how impressive that is! He'll never buy himself a drink for the rest of his life. Well done, sir.
My husband is a firearms instructor and he can’t say enough about this young man’s skill. He says the accuracy, speed, and most especially the distance, is beyond impressive. I’m no firearms expert, so my praise is centered around his courage and ability to respond so quickly. He assessed the situation and took decisive action in a situation where most people - myself included, no doubt - would’ve been running in a panic for safety. And he’s just 22 years old! What an amazing young man. I also read that his girlfriend was a hero in her own right, administering first aid and applying a tourniquet to a woman wounded in the leg. God bless her! This all happened just days after news that a young pizza delivery driver, also in Indiana, ran into a burning house and saved 4 children, then went back in for a six year old and jumped with her in his arms from a second story window. As a lifelong Hoosier, I couldn’t be more proud and grateful to all these amazing young people! ❤️🙏❤️
Like your husband, I too have been a handgun instructor. I'm a Veteran of the Marine Corps, 3rd Award Pistol Expert, and spent 10-years in Law Enforcement. We are in agreement, Eli Dicken has elite level skills with a handgun. That skill set puts him in the top 1% of trained handgun operators that I have known, observed, or worked with. Right place and time for that guy to be where he was. He saved a lot of lives.
Imagine if this dude was at Uvalde. The outcome would have been VERY different. This dude is an expert marksman. The shots he made at the distance he made them was absolutely amazing and it was done under a life and death situation. Kudos to you my man, YOU are the definition of hero. The term gets thrown around meaninglessly but you are the TRUE definition of that word.
I will continue to pray for this young hero; for any type of trauma or angst he may endure from this tragic event. The victims, and their families are also in my continued prayers.
You're doing it wrong. Pray privately in a closet, as instructed in Matthew 6:5-7. Read ALL of Matthew 6 to see why people being so public about their prayers are questionable. You're not being a very good Christian.
Taking a life is never easy, but if it means taking one to save many, this is heroism at it's finest. He put his own life on the line to save others. John 15:12-13 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.”
This is a perfect example of a responsible gun carrying person. Not showing off, not posting, not bragging, not being flashy...just going about his business and (seems like he's been training either physically, mentally or both) in reacting upon a threat. And he did. Didn't panic, didn't think about it...knew his surrounding's, knew people we're everywhere...but quickly, locked in on the threat, and just as quickly... engaged and took his life.......no questions, doubts or concerns.....and walked away.
Prayers for Eli. He didn't wake up that morning expecting to be called to action, but his actions saved the lives of many and for that he will forever be a hero. His heart needs time to process and heal. I hope and pray that the media will leave him be and allow him the space and time he needs to come to terms with the fact that unfortunately, in saving lives, he ultimately took a life. Prayers for the victims and Survivors as well as for the family and loved ones of the shooter. Let us not forget that they are victims in this situation, too and that their hearts and minds are in need of love, compassion, and understanding as they come to terms with the actions of their family member.
Pray privately in a closet, as instructed in Matthew 6:5-7. Read ALL of Matthew 6 to find out why making a big public show of prayers is so bad. Too many Christians don't know any better, which leads to fewer and fewer people taking Christians seriously.
This all took place roughly 30 minutes away from my house, my sister and her girlfriend were near the Yankee candle area when they hear the gun shots. They high tailed it out of there. I would maybe not have a sister at this moment if it wasn't for this man. Thank you for your bravery sir, I will never forget it
I want them to give this young man the Freedom Medal of Honor. That is a person who deserves it the most. A selfless individual who put his own life on the line to save others. That is a true definition of a hero. He stood his ground when confronted by evil and good will always conquer evil. Great job young man, I solute you.

@First Last you don’t seem smart. We have to take a gun safety course/training also, it take cops minutes to get to the scene. By the time they get there, the threat is over. F a law biding citizen takes out the threat he or she must disarm quickly and lay down on the ground 🤦🏽♂️
@First Last He still took down the threat, sometimes taking down a threat has unintended risks and consequences. Outside of that, that example further speaks to the ineptitude and lack of any tactical superiority of police. I’m not sure depending on police more is the right answer.
@Noah Ditchie Cpl is no longer needed in that state. It's a constitutional carry state now meaning that you will never need a license. The mall was supposed to be a gun free zone according to policy. In a private company says no gun it means no guns what whatever way its carried concealed or not.

Lol !!! There were hundreds of guns in Uvalde, still killer was able to kill dozens, there were many guns in las Vegas, still 56 died. In this incident multiple people were shot, if there was no gun then no one would have died, these shootings don't happen in other countries.
Do you think people expecting to die, are going to be scared away by a minority event? Majority of mass shooting don't end like this, and everyone knows this.
Clearly doesn't apply to this case. Not really a gun-free zone if the hero also had a gun... 🤦♂🤦♂ Not to mention this came on the hills of the Constitutional Carry that just passed not too long ago in Indiana. AND, Indiana eliminated Gun Free Zones to a T with this bill.
To all concealed, and Constitutional Carriers. Gun free zones are usually not laws, they are rules. Saving lives is much more important than following a rule that a criminal isn't going to follow either. Stay strapped or get capped, you never know when you might be called into action
