That thing early in the video with the writing on the back is a old hanging scale. A fisherman might have used that to weight his fish.

Just like the scales in the produce department. They are only used to estimate the weight of the produce. The scales at the checkout are inspected and tested for accuracy at least once a year and must display their certification.

With all the automotive parts and tools in the water makes me wonder if that building next to the bar was a service garage of some sort and instead of having junk hauled away it was easier to toss it in the river. Imagine using one of those giant magnets from a scrapyard and lowering that in the water from a barge. You could scour the riverbottom clean of metal in a short while. 😳

3:10 the "not legal for use in trade" piece is an old fish scale that would have had a chain on top with a ring to hold it and another with a hook on the bottom to hang the fish. There would have been an indicator that slid up and down the barrel.

That little thing you found with the hooks online and you hung your hat on I believe is a latch to a Jeep hood or some type of a vehicle that uses those lashes on either side of the hood it's got a spring inside it that you pull that up and it hooks

6:32 - that looks like a bracket that bolts to a truck frame that hold the leaf springs. The leaf spring end goes in the cutout and a bolt holds it in.

That little round thing on a steel plate that you found is a spring-loaded door latch like for a secondary door to double doors or a cabinet with two doors it latches the second door after you open the first door you pull a little chain and open the second door

Not sure but the round thing you found with the rattle looks like an old automobile horn. Couldn't tell from the view if it had a screw or nut on it for a wire hook up. But if it is an old car horn Alex should have recognized it. If it helps it was at approx 29 mins into video.

We bought this old house and it has an old wood burn room but i have never been in it the stairs are steep and it's creepy .My husband said there was insulators down there il have to make him go get them and see if they are worth anything...That one is pretty though love the color.

I appreciate the comment about how nothing pulled out of this river has been newly deposited as its all covered in gunk. Makes me wonder if this area went through a period of time in which it was too costly to take things to the city dump. Throwing it in the river would certainly have been a cheaper option! Too bad that throwing away our junk can sometimes be a cause for charging us. Well, now we know your tool of choice for picking buggers!! 🤣😂

The item you found that had, not legal for trade written on it, is likely a scale for weighing things, like envelopes for the mail service or for weighing items at home like for cooking or other tasks that require weighing materials. it is often used for the illegal drug trade, like for "Mary Jane" and others. if you clean it up, you might find it has a slot on the other side where a pointer would point to markings on the side of the tube. the two old style wheels you and your partner found in the river are actually small rail car wheels, and the cogs on the inside of the wheels were likely part of a gear system where a motor might have been connected to or it might have even been a hand crank cart. but those are rail wheels for sure.

Just had to tell you that I just found out what the “catfish bells” are used for. You put them on your fishing rod or pole when attending to other lines to let you know when you have a bite.

"not for use in trade" is a small hand held scale for weighing small items. Little hook is a latch for a (truck?) hood, like on a jeep hood. "hand cranker" looks like a model A or T engine crank.

Dude, another fantastic trip! Just so you know, the wheel you forn ad 20:20 is actually a belt flywheel, used on old steam tractors and old cars. That thing you jad at 23:15 was a mooring tie for boats. That thing at 25:00 is the top to a fence post to hold the top bar.

I agree with the preaching I do the same with my students. The bottom line is each individual has to decide if they are going to go the extra mile or not. There's an old adage that says you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, to relate that these guys are given everything they need to take away any stress or anything that would interfere with their ability to be on the field, however no one can make them play at their full potential. That has to como from each individual player. My dilemma and coaches is how do we get full performance. I have discovered over 20 years of teaching that there are a select few that will excel and achieve beyond my wildest imagination and there are those who just do the minimum to pass. They do respond to reward for performance. My kids respond to being rewarded for making a perfect score on an exam. School rules prohibit gum and candy in the school I gave out for consumption in my classroom gum and candy as a result grades went up 95% in two weeks. I don't know how that converts to football players. In the end there are some players Travis for example he's one hundred percent plus and there are others that do the minimum. If a fire cannot be built under them, they might need to be replaced. Due to NCAA rules I think my candy trick would be illegal. However it's worth exploring.
