This demonstration took place in Fort Worth, Texas on 15th of September 2006 during rollout ceremony. First four polish F-16 will join into the service in Polish Air Force on 9th of November this year (2006) :) Go go Viper!
This is the best F-16 demo I've ever seen. That entire routine was flown within a very small piece of sky, which just goes to show how tight turning this aircraft is. Though the F-16 has now been in service for 40 years, it still performs incredibly well in energy fights. Though an older design, it flies a lot like the Typhoon, Rafale or Gripen and probably exceeds the Gripen in terms of power.
Remember watching this back in 2008. So many years have passed, however I am yet to see a more aggressive F-16 demo. What a stunning display and beautifully captured! One of my favorite videos of all time!
Hey Sdfwert, a friend of mine is a US Marine in a F18 Hornet squadron. His unit was just there in Poland last year. He had a great time there. By the way, the MiG-29 and SU-7 are both great machines. I was happy to get to see a MiG-23 this year as well, great engine on that bird too. Poland has had some great pilots and planes to match for a very long time.
Czemu nikt na pokazach nikt nie wyciska tyle z F16 co ten pilot na tym filmie? Moim skromnym zdaniem to co pokazuje np. holender ma się nijak do skilla tego pilota tutaj. Bardzo ciasno, dynamicznie, ostro. Po prostu pięknie. Niesamowity pokaz.
Actually, these are Block 52 F16's which are brand new off the assembly line at Ft. Worth and have MUCH more advanced avionics than the typical Mig 29. Poland inherited the former East German Mig 29's from the Luftwaffe, which found them wanting after a while and repalced them with Typhoons. The Poles had the same experience.
Polish, Swiss, and Isreali pilots are among the best skilled pilots in the world. The F-16 close in combat abilities put her in the rankings to go up against the Mig-29 and SU-47 but with one turbofan engine, the odds do not always work in her favor.
@VitzTheLocutor I can ensure you taht skills of polish pilots including so called dogfighting or in this case more 'air show fun flying' are TOP level. Unlike for example Czech or Hungarian pilots.. polish one have hands full of job, they train to master skill in any aspect of aerial battlefield in full spectrum from a2a by tactical recon to a2g. While the only thing that our southern neighbours have to worry is to policing their own tiny airspace. Gripen does NOT drop bombs. Next year bro.
There was a published simulated dogfight between Texas F-16s and German Mig-29s. You can read about that one. Pilots were able to fly both jets. According to the US pilots, their F-16s were turning inside the Migs. Apparently the Migs couldnt sustain the high Gs in a turn as well - speed would bleed off too fast. The F-16 pilots never came out and said "Oh, our planes are better!" but you get the idea from their commentary that they felt that way.
There have been some instances where supersonic target drones or experimental UAV's have been converted to front line use, but most of the UAV's are subsonic and rely on altitude and endurance. There are a couple of unmanned X planes in the pipeline.
Poland received some decent machines that are still great machines, and the price didn't hurt either. We shall have to see how good the Eurofighter really is in combat. Nothing yet.
@kcoikid Yes, it was flown by LM test pilot, because it was the first F-16C (current tactical number 4040) built for Poland, and our AF haven't even single pilot with Combat Ready status at the time.

USNavy wzięła SuperH. bo nie miała nic innego pod ręką, trzeba było coś znaleźć na wymianę F-14. W żadnym stopniu SH nie dorównuje Tomcatowi, ani prędkością, przyspieszeniem, zasięgiem... W trakcie projektowania Superhorneta popełniono całą masę błedów, choćby te absurdalne wygięte belki które tworzą duże opory przy podwieszeniu uzbrojenia, nawet Rosjanie czegoś takiego by nie wymyślili! Do tego nie spełnia założeń zasięg wzrósł jedynie o 15-20% w stosunku do starego Horneta(zakładano 40%),

SARH missiles require the pilot to use STT mode, which trips the target's RWR and he knows he's being fired on. Western AMRAAMs can be fired by F-16s by just bugging the target, so the target does not know a missile is inbound unless he saw the launch. AMRAAM equipped western fighters have a huge advantage over any SARH missile fighters.

The F-16 doesn't bleed much energy in turns, but it doesn't have a very good instantaneous turn rate. I'm not sure about the ITR of the mig-29, but against some fighters like the F-18 or the mirage-2000 the F-16 pilot has to be very carefull at the merge.

Nasze F-16 pozbawione są tych wszystkich wad, mogą przenosić bomby JDAM, JSOW, nowsze typy bomb PavewayIII, nowsze wersje Mavericków czy Amraamów (Aim-120C) czy wreszcie rakiety antyradarowe AGM-88 Harm.

Depends on which one you are talking about. The F-16s Poland is getting are the latest and greatest. They burn less fuel than the Fulcrums, use the latest western weapons and are NATO type aircraft which means the avionics will integrate with the rest of NATO comms. And unless the Fulcrums can carry some AA-12s, they are dead from long distance to any western aircraft using AMRAAMs.
Prędkość max zamiast wzrosnąć, spadła do 1,6 macha, SuerH nie osiąga predkości naddzwiękowej na niskich wysokościach! Do tego charakterystyki manewrowe nieznacznie pogorszyły sie w stosunku do starego modelu, dalej osiąga przeciążenia max zaledwie 7.5g, najlepsze jest to że przy powiększeniu płatowca zapomniano o powiększeniu sekcji nosowej aby zainstalować mocniejszy radar i system Irst, dużo by wymieniać, niestety ale tych głównych kwestii wogóle nie poprawiono.
Polacy ogólnie są wspaniałymi zołniezami :) Tylko sprzętu dobrego brakuje, teraz sie rozwijamy ale gdybysmy mieli taki sprzet co np. izrael czy niemcy to bez wątpienia bylibysmy potęga.
W Takiej konfiguracji Gripenowi pozostają tylko 2 szyny na końcówkach skrzydeł dla rakiet bliskiej walki powietrznej i 2 belki podskrzydłowe o nośności zaledwie po ~500kg. Po za tym wszystkim Gripen ma po prostu za słaby silnik dlatego nowa wersja dostała mocniejszą jednostkę napędową.
Gripen ma jedną ogromną wadę. Ze względu na słabą moc silników, nie może jednocześnie zabierać uzbrojenia powietrze-ziemia a ziemia-ziemia. Nadal dziwi mnie jednak czemu nie kupiliśmy F/A 18.

true story! However they swapped the engines - the engines are being produced in "WSK PZL" in a town called Rzeszów - in the beginning they had plenty of glitches ( i mean who wouldn't ) after all the fine tuning there are now POLISH engines in the F-16's everything else however is American.
pt 91 to zmodernizowany t72. Nową konstrukcją jest PT91M lub EX całkowicie zmodernizowany. Kupiła go malezja a pokonał mi ruskiego t90. Więc czołgi mamy lepsze:) ale żadnego w wersji ex nie kupiliśmy:(

Czesi nie kupili a wydzierżawili 14 używanych Gripenów. Ten samolot w niczym nie dorównuje do F-16. Gripena jak dotąd kupiła tylko RPA - 28 sztuk i Tajlanda - 6 sztuk. Jak widać to nie jest żaden hit eksportowy. F-16 używa 25 państw, wyprodukowano 4500 egzemplarzy.

połowa prawdy, gripen może jest na hydraulice, ale EF posiada fly-by-wire. Na pewno F-16 nie ma tak niskiego promieniu skrętu przy małych prędkosciach jak EF...

Koszty wprowadzenia i utrzymania nie mówiąc o samym zakupie f15 byłyby ogromne.. poza tym to już nieperspektywiczny mysliwiec Pojawiła się wersja (na razie makieta) o obniżonej skutecznej powierzchni odbicia F15E Silent Eagle" ale producent ustalił cenę na poziomie ok 100mln dol za sztukę.Ponadto wersja tama znacznie obniżony zasięg i może przenosić mniej uzbrojenia...
@major9 F-16 nie jest wycofywane ze służby USA. (Niemcy i Wielka Brytania nie posiadali, ani nie posiadają żadnego F-16) wręcz przeciwnie Amerykanie chcą unowocześnić swoją flotę, o nowe systemy radarowe i naprowadzające.
@major9 Niby niby z F-18 niema szans... podobno... bo podczas wspólnych ćwiczeń Polsko - Hiszpańskich (latających na f-18 hornet) wszystkie pozorowane walki były na korzyść polskiego f-16.
na pewno f16 nie ma równych właściwości lotnych w porównaniu z Gripen'em, wynika to z innego profilu aerodynamicznego a także z inaczej rozlokowanego usterzenia płatowca.
Ferky, surely you're referring to Polish pilots as being the highest scoring amongst the Allied pilots, for German pilots had the highest number of kills overall in both WW1 and WW2.
Ale które f-18? Stare Hornety nie są już produkowane, a nowe Superhornety to kompletnie nieudane maszyny. Nieudane bo nie spełniają oczekiwanych założeń, chociaż ich producent -Boeing jakoś wcisnął je US Navy ale Piechota(Marines) nie dała się nabrać i zrezygnowała z Superhorrora:-) na rzecz przyszłego F-35.
Great airframe, great avionics, period. Unfortunately one can hear critical opinions in Poland as some media create untrue picture of it (politics su...!).
sorry, my english is very bad, so i write in german ;-( ich meinte nur, dass polen noch nicht gewohnt ist ein so hoch technologisiertes kampfflugzeug zu besitzen und man daher noch einige zeit benötigt um damit klar zu kommen. die f-16 ist ein top fighter. aber 80-90% klarstand ist zu viel - max 70% ist realistisch. und ueberall wo viel technik vorhanden ist, gibt es viele probleme. wie du sagst, auch deutschland und oesterreich hatten und haben mit dem eurofighter viele probleme.
