There is still plenty of great talent out there but you have to look for it. Sadly today's mainstream music is performance-oriented fluff instead of "Hey let's write a great song!" That is why 70% of all music sold is old music and only 30% for new. Cuts across all ages

Every singer has auto tune. Has nothing to do with their voice. If you have a singer with a powerful voice you need auto tune to keep the mike from squealing. I wish you would all stop talking about auto tune. You don't know what your talking about. Freddy Mercury had auto tune on live aid because his voice was so powerful. Get over auto tune.
@veryhighpower
@veryhighpower 5 месяцев назад
@@louremington6975 This show me how little you actually know about the recording industry. This song was recorded live in the 1960's. Autotune wasn't used commercially until 1998 when Cher used it to create a mechanical sound for her song. It was created by Andy Hildebrand, Prior to that the only way to change a note was to over dub to same singers voice in the studio. They didn't have software or even computers for the music industry, didn't even exist in the 1960's.

The incomparable Counter Tenor voice of the late great Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers. This performance done (Live) 59 years ago on the Andy Williams Television Show back in (1965). Has become the quintessential version of "Unchained Melody" of them all. Recording artist and orchestras since 1965 have used this version by Bobby Hatfield ever since. No one has sung this song better than Bobby Hatfield. And no orchestra has performed this song better than the NBC Studio Orchestra of the Andy Williams Show. This (Live) performance by a singer and orchestra has gone down as the greatest television performance ever. Great and honest reaction, brilliant!

No auto tune or gimmicks just pure talent. He had a cold, his mother was in the audience watching him sing live for the first time and he suffered with stage fright. Note when he sings that last high note. He does not contort his face like other singers hitting a high note. Bobby just bites his lip and smiles as if to say 'I nailed it'.

Bobby Hatfield live performance . The Andy Williams Show- Episode #4.5 Episode aired Oct 25, 1965 Robert Lee Hatfield (August 10, 1940 - November 5, 2003) Bobby Hatfield, who had a higher counter tenor voice to Bill Medley’s, William Thomas Medley (born September 19, 1940) baritone, sang lead on this track. It was his idea to record it, since Medley and Hatfield were each allowed to choose a song to sing as a solo vocalist on their albums. As Medley tells it, Hatfield knew the song well, and was a big fan of the Roy Hamilton and Al Hibbler versions of the song. *In Nov. 2003 Hatfield died of a heart attack at age 63. The Righteous Brothers version was a huge hit, but it was recorded with far more modest expectations. Phil Spector considered it album filler and released it as a B-side. The single had "Unchained Melody," with no producer credit on the label, as the flip to Gerry Goffin and Carole King's "Hung on You," but many DJs preferred "Unchained Melody" and played that one instead. This infuriated Spector, who subsequently left no doubt (actually calling DJs telling them to play “Hung On You” not “Unchained Melody “)as to which side of a Philles single was the A-side. * The famous climax of this song where Bobby Hatfield sings the high "I need your love" line wasn't how the song was written. In an interview with Bill Medley, he explained that Hatfield did two takes of the song, then left. He would often reconsider his performance and come back later to change it, and that's what he did on this track, returning to ask Medley if he could make an edit. This was no easy task, since with a maximum of four tracks to work with, you had to record over part of the original take, but Medley accommodated and Hatfield delivered that soaring vocal line. Said Medley: "I punched that in and he left. He said, 'No, I can do it better.' And I said, 'No, you can't.' [Laughs] And I think it's a big part of that song." * This was released on Philles Records, Phil Spector's label. Spector, known for his "Wall Of Sound" technique, did not produce this - Bill Medley did. In a 2007 statement to the Forgotten Hits newsletter, Medley said: "You have to remember that I was producing our stuff before Phil Spector... I mean I produced 'Little Latin Lupe Lu,' 'My Babe' and all that stuff. Then when we went with Phil, Phil asked me if I would produce the albums because it was too time consuming for him to produce the entire albums. So he was going to do the singles and I would do the album. And so that's how that happened and that's how I produced 'Unchained Melody,' which Phil Spector apparently now takes credit for. He can have the credit. And I'm not a producer. I know how to produce. But it's obviously not a Spector production. 'Unchained Melody' was never intended to be the single... it was produced to be on the album. It was put on the B side of a Phil Spector single 'Hung On You' and the minute it was released 'Unchained Melody' just went through the roof." Hatfield’s rendition of “Unchained Melody” although not the original, is the ‘gold standard’.

Tell you what when this came on in Ghost they got it right. That was right near the end of the movie and did it EVER get to me... This song was played at my Niece's Wedding AT MY REQUEST because the DJ's had never heard of it. Fortunately they had a player there and I just happened to have the original release on CD with me because I had my suspicions about DJ's playing trash and I was right. Most of that generation had never heard it and this was before Ghost came out. Most of those at the reception (especially the females) stopped whatever they were drinking and started crying. My niece was one of them she was about 25 at the time. I left the copy with the DJ and I told them to PLAY IT until you retire.

PLEASE Check out "You've lost that loving Feeling" and "Soul and Inspiration"... It has Both of the Righteous Brothers in it. Bonny Hatfield sings Tenor While Bill Medley handles the Baritone. This Duo gave birth to the Genre called "Blue-eyed Soul", as many people listening back then thought this was a "Black" Group.

Yep you have to hear both "brothers" sing those two songs at least. They were on the Hulabaloo TV show for Soul & Inspiration and on the Shindig for the other. Since they were regulars on Shindig from 1964-66 they sang quite a few songs that have videos from that show. Watch Bobby Hatfield sing another solo there called "Summertime". He gets into the song and the notes go off the chart.

You reflect the same thing as did the girls of the 60s and 70s, who heard the (to help you) Rightchuss Brothers. Falling in love with them was as easy as anything that could be done. Bobby died in 2006, but his music lives on. Bill, the other brother will give you an entirely different look into their "Blue-Eyed Soul Music with "I Just Want To Make Love To You". Further, the most played, the most requested song of the 20th-Century was "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", featuring both Bill and Bobby. I was privileged to be a Rock Jock during their days.

Elvis version is ok but in the same ballpark as this one. This song has been sung by a lot of people but no version touches this one by Bobby Hatfield. This one is the gold standard of this song. I saw this performance live on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I was seven years old and still remember my mother had tears in her eyes as we watched this. This was 100% live and none of this auto tune crap today. This is pure talent on display here. Back then you had to have talent or you weren't going anywhere. I would guess that around 80% of these hacks today wouldn't have a chance back then. Check out The Beatles sometime. Greatest, most influential band in the history of recorded music. Also check out video of The Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" from 1964, it's great. Peace ❤
