We're just humans and we all make mistakes. I was also a international driver of this type of van's for 10 years. It's a shame no one help him at least cycling man who is English should go to the drivers and ask them to reverse (if he helps its advice for other reading this people). I had different situation when I was with transport for the first time in UK, I drove into the parking thinking there was no height restriction (no height restriction gate) but actually way to exit goes under the building, I had to drive in the wrong direction should I also be blame because I couldn't read sign in foreign language in couple seconds ? Most of complainers here they have never driven a vehicle abroad even if they do I'm not sure they know that much foreign language to read signs in (French, German, Polish, Czech etc) it's example and I'm not saying only about signs with number limits. In my small city couple times I've met lost international drivers (German, Czech, Romanian) which they lost in the town centre instead of recording them I came even if we can not communicate each other, I've stopped the traffic (because it happens in my country so I can easily explain to other drivers what's going on) and guide driver to reverse. I don't understand what is the purpose of this video, especially with 'Polish Lorry' title to blame all Polish drivers ?? Look around every day how your country mates drive on roundabouts, changing lanes or choosing the wrong one and it is happening in your country where they pass exam for licence lol.
I totally agree with everything you've said including the title. Looking at the bridge it's easy to see it wasn't the first time a truck has scraped it and it won't be the last.

100% agree, I'd never let another driver struggle whether it be car or truck I was driving Hgvs for over 40 year's & been in tight situations many a time. If there's someone willing to help it can make a hell of a difference even it's just calming the driver down a bit.
In some ways I feel for the driver. Foreign country, unfamiliar roads, things like that. But when he saw the bollards he really should've known better than to try and squeeze through. They're there for a reason. As per usual, people would rather just watch than help the driver out. The quicker he got going the quicker you all got going
Some years ago i was behind a Polish truck trying to blindly follow sat nav and negotiate a turn which was far too tight for the truck AND had a width restriction. So I got out and 'talked' to the driver explaining that the road was too small for the truck and he should go straight ahead and take the first turn to the left. However I did it in Polish which isnt good but sufficient to get the message across. To say he was surprised was an understatement.
@@nickmagee-brown739 oh so you could follow a sat nav with a wide body vehicle in a different country better?😂shut up you don't know how stupid you sound 😂
If he’s not a polish resident of this country and he’s visiting from Poland , for him , he’s driving on an unfamiliar road system on the opposite side of the road that he’s used to . For him that situation would be a bloody nightmare . If that cyclist was worth his salt , he should have given that driver a guide . If I found myself in a situation like that in a foreign country , I’d be hoping some Good Samaritan would give me a hand
I drive for a living and I feel for the lads and gals doing this work wether it be HGV or vans. No one cares about anybody but them selfs these day so this is why I will always help out if a trucker needs it because it’s not easy to drive one of those on unfamiliar roads with selfish idiots racing around all day. So if they get stuck I help. Put your self in there shoes for a moment. The world would be a far better place if we thought and help others more over being in world of hey look at me and I need to be first gang.
It's not a lorry, it's a van. It has tarpaulin on it, it's a small truck, but definitely under 3.5 tons. One can drive it with ordinary car driver license. It's smaller than e.g. Bentley Flying Spur or a Mercedes S class.
The Renault Master exceeds the 2.0 m width prohibition with an external width of 2.470 m, so well over the limit and liable to a £60 fixed penality and 3 points.
I don't think he hit it. He goes straight forward even after the bang. He would have definitely knocked down some bricks if he would have caught the wall and that noise didn't sound like hitting the bricks. It was probably his load moving.
His 3.5T vehicle is about 2.5m wide. He can't say he missed the >2.0 m< prohibition sign as he was literally sat waiting right in front of it and he can't say he had nowhere to turn as he was right next to a side road with a massive keep clear section in front of it, giving him plenty of room to turn around. That sign is identical in Poland and doesn't require any English to understand. There's no excuse: he went through deliberately and disobediently. The bridge can take the weight but not the damage from repeated scraping. The incident should have been reported immediately to the police for failing to comply with section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, namely disobeying prohibition signs, and they would have given him a fixed penalty of £60 and 3 points, but presumably this has already been done by now by locals who don't want to pay for the bridge to be repaired. I'm sure his employer won't have appreciated the repair bill for all the other presumable scrapes and bumps to the vehicle either. Presumably his company has been notified of his driving by now too.
How? How can he get through? Lorry (if “puddle jumper” 7.5tonne) is at least 8’ wide in a 6’6” width limit. To even attempt to get past would be suicidal!
It's a 3m5 ton Renalut master truck it's maximum weight loaded and everything is 3.5 tons the 7.5 ton limit has nothing to do with this guy ohh and also it would be much easier to ask the driver for help. It will make your and his day much easier instead of filming and criticising him.

Everyone who thinks this is a lorry should definitely not be commenting on here at all and slating him maybe you should all go and read the Highway code or more importantly go and revise on what is a lorry to van 🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@anradhofficial4652 he is right. I wTched BBC tv material when tjey tried ofindjob for brits. They were so laxyand had problems with counting to the 15. 😆
His vehicle is too wide so he shouldn't attempt to go through, but it's foreign registered so maybe the driver thought he'd chance it! Sheer stupidity really. There's always one!!! These silly narrow bridges are from the horse and cart era, and really cause problems to delivery vehicles from out of area, not familiar with local restrictions. Thankfully it's a rare occurrence usually.
This doesn't matter whether it's a Polish truck or driver, I've driven artics for twenty years and sometimes you can find yourself in a situation you'd rather not be in. Problem is, when you're already committed there's sometimes not a lot you can do except carry on, looking back down that road right at the end of the video it doesn't look like an ideal place to be reversing a lorry or turning one round. What does piss me of about situations like this is why didn't you, Mr. Perfect, get off your bloody bike at the narrow section and warn the driver or even tell him to stop. I'd love people like you to do my job for a day and me follow you with a camera and see how you get on 😡. It's become a sad world where people feel the need to film the mistakes of others and post them online in order to ridicule them. Get a grip or more importantly, get a life ffs 😡
This vehicle is excact 2.2 and is in limit of Road sign. I know that because im user excactly the same model and body vehicle. Definitly driver keep bad Assessment and entry too much close to right side. I have really good experince with driving in UK
Firstly video is incorrectly titled 🙄 it is NOT a lorry, as per usual WE get the flack. Has anyone else noticed that he'd have had no problems if he'd taken the turn wider? At 0:43 ... he was under the weight limit, within the width limit, he struggled through the first hurdle, and then he cut the corner, sharply, 🙄 regardless of where he's from he is a dodgy driver and doesn't know how the dimensions of the vehicle,
the bridge was well signed. And the road was blocked with the width bollards so no excuse for the driver. Two warnings missed. But the local bike person could have helped out with a shout maybe rather then talking to the local women.
@Ed Straker Do you still have foreign drivers? I heard you all fill petrol in plastic bags and buckets, because there are no dudes to drive the fuel tankers.
A polish driver completely ignored a 7.5ton canal bridge restriction near me a few months ago, damaged the bridge to the point that it took a week to assess and fix and caused traffic chaos in my town as it was one of three routes through to adjacent towns. The driver in question was fully aware of the restriction as he spent a few minutes looking at the signage yet still ignored it and went over despite a suitable bridge crossing being located less then 200yrds away.

As has already been stated by others its not a Lorry it is a 3.5t van with a tilt body on it and within the width limit, it was just poorly driven hence why he was to far over to the right and clipped the island and the bridge.

@@TheSeafordian you can, up to 3500kg. If it's more than that then you you won't be allowed. Most of these Eastern European vans are registered as 3.5t but they fit bigger bodies and many times they are overloaded
Think it's the width law he was breaking. Yes he was within 7.5t weight limit at 3.5t but the restrictions were for 2m width also. But seriously, who would film and post someone's lapse of judgement for the world to see? Who knows, the driver may have been lost and at his wits end panicking probably praying to a higher being! As an HGV Driver you see how easy it is to make mistakes and how quickly people judge. Just sayin.
I assume this is a dashcam, it starts filming as soon as the cyclist starts moving and only stops when he parks it properly. And you need that if you want to cycle in the UK, because the Polish truck drivers are not the craziest people you'll encounter in traffic there.
I’m in the U.S. and I’m a truck driver. I have made wrong turns for one reason or another in my time on the road searching for customers. I’ve ended up in neighborhoods while people stood by with their phones recording and hoping for a disastrous scene to unfold. When I got in a jam like that I always stopped the truck and hollered to the asses standing there watching me struggle and ask them how the hell do I get out of here? Backup or keep going forward. Lol I usually got good directions from them.
All workers make mistakes, a lot of jobs you can cover up your mistakes without others knowing about it... This bloke on a bike choose to film a mistake and then post it on RU-vid.... I wonder what job he does for a living.
Holy shit I know that bridge so well!!! I deliver to a kitchen place on the business estate near it. It’s bloody tight in my sprinter Luton let alone a wagon 😂😂
A lot of people do not look at the root before the drive away they put the postcode in the sat nav and follow it you shouldn't do that you should be looking at Maps look at your route save that route suitable when you get there if that road doesn't look suitable don't take it take another one the Satnav will reroute you hates and Webbs of vehicles number for the same in any country maybe the language is different but the numbers are still the same
Judging by the debris left at side of wall ...., (on the ground) doesn't look like first time bridge has been hit , (I may be wrong) , but overseas truckers are aware of what 7.5 Tonne means , think his satnav is probably set for cars
Reg Varney The weight limit was paired with a width restriction of 2.0m or 6'6''. This seems like an unusual pairing as I doubt that there are 7.5 tonne vehicles that are less than 6'6'' wide. Perhaps the driver only saw the weight limit and was lulled into false confidence.
@@aquanick2001 he took his time and it was longer because some fool was blocking the road in front of him. Didnt really hit anything exept the kerb going in ?
@@paulenglish6383 and the wall I think, although can’t be sure about that from the angle, but their was a perfectly timed bang as he went through which I’m guessing means he hit it, maybe some damage was already on the wall 🤔
I think they need to scrap this hight/width regulations signs. Alot of people dont know those type of details. They need to put a sign like a LEVEL system. Eg. LEVEL 1 (MOPED BIKE) LEVEL 2 (CARS/SUV/pickup Truck) LEVEL 3 (Van/Luton van LEVEL 4 (Bus/couch) LEVEL 5 (double decker bus/HGV) A sign thats Red and says (No Level 5+) that will 100% make the driver think oh shit i better not. Those hight/width bullshit system is for the government to benefit from fines and repair bills
Chances are if those restrictions would apply to you, then you're in a position where you should be perfectly aware of your height/width/length. The strictest of restrictions that I've seen are enough to let a "normal car" through, anything above that and you really should be knowing what your mass and dimensions are.
The signage is clear but with it being a foreign truck I have some sympathy, as driving on unfamiliar roads can be challenging. I think after I saw him bash the wall, I would have attempted to get his attention and help him if I could. Ultimately it's the cyclists choice to stay out of it and observe, which is what most people would do anyway.
It's the sign of the times we live in, people stand back, knowing that they could help, knowing the area themselves, but choose to sit back and watch others make mistakes, so they can smugly make sarcastic remarks...
@@CouchPotator he caught the wall very slightly on the way through (right hand side at the start of bridge). Yes he seems to be stopped because of the cars. I probably would have gone to have a look if i was there, to see if I could assist. I'm a trucker myself so it's in me.
They have no regard for anything and anyone anywhere on this planet. No law is to sacred for them to break. Disgusting. And before anyone cries, I also use my bike on the roads too, but since I'm a road user when I'm doing it, all the laws that apply to other road users apply to me too! This means red lights, this meanns letting people cross the crosswalk, as they have the right of way in my country and every vehicle literally has to stop if someone is about to walk throught the street, THIS INCLUDES BIKES!!! This means signaling my turns and all the other things everyone else is bound by law to do on a fkn road!
Well, the cyclist/poster should not have gone through the red light, but on their own admission went out of their way "se see someone come unstuck" - very public spireeted of you because you could have spoken to the driver when he was pushiong his luck through the bollards - i hope you come a cropper in a forieign country sometime & get no help from the locals. & yes, it was clearly signposted & the driver should not have gone through. We all occasionall make mistakes.
Sign of the times in modern Britain, probably knows the area, knows there's a bridge up ahead, but couldn't tell the foreign driver (probably doesn't know English well) in a overly loud voice and hand signals that the van/truck/lorry isn't going to get through... But No, just watch someone cause a jam, holding everyone up, but him on a bike just smugly go on by with a smug sarcastic comments... Yep, sign of the times in modern Britain... His attitude will be, that he isn't paid to drive the van, that's the mentality of a growing amount of people today... Pay, money, coin, financially rewarded to HELP...
If you are driving a huge truck surely you, for your benefit, get to know what Width and Height it is, keep a mental note of it, and ffs keep a look out for the signs on the road, yes they are sometimes small, so obviously keep to a slow pace speed thus giving yourself time to observe your situation further ahead up the road, so avoiding any f,kin headaches you can give yerself and other road users around you... By law companies should only give reasonable time deliveries for the driver thus cutting out the stress for the driver to get deliveries done.. Big Fines for companies that put stressful situations onto the roads...(if in foreign country then Google the Width and Height and Speed signs, before your journey starts) 10-11 quid an hour to drive one of those things... You're having a laugh.

width restriction properly and clearly posted, he drove past the road turn, after that he could only go forward, when he hit the road bollard he should have reversed, but again a foreign. but he should be give lessons if he is not familiar, even in 2019, you have SAT navigation aids to tell you of things like this so you can choose a different route, muppet
Mistakes happen in all work environments, in most working environments mistakes get covered up, this situation is a mistake that easily could have been avoided 1) the driver could drive slower and observe the road signs 2) a local knowing there's a bridge up ahead could hand signal to the driver that he/s isn't going to make it.. But No, people sit back and watch knowing they could have help,,, But there's no financial reward for them to do so...
