Polishing Jade is not the same as polishing Jasper or Agate, it is different but not hard to do...Here's a video that explains step by step how to do it.
thank you for the tip on polishing on a dry belt, worked a treat, I was at my wits end with the orange peel syndrome but your vid tuened the tables, cheers from Aus.
Thank you for so generously sharing the knowledge! Your videos are always full of useful information. I just want to point one detail from this video: the expando drum visible in the background around 10:00 seems to be mounted backwards! I believe this is the 400 grit drum.
Not sure if this is your new channel or not, but very good video. Thank you. I'm new at polishing nephrite jade, but enjoying it. One problem I have is the magnesium metallic content will look dull on the surface when I've dry polished. Thanks for sharing your video.
Thanks Bob, I have 2 channels one under EG Jewels Lapidary and the second one under Elie Ghanime, the reason is when Google bought RU-vid they did something and I couldn’t log into my channel, I tried everything and after few months I had to create a new channel and uploaded all the videos again so now every time I make a new video I have to upload it on both channels because of the followers I have. Thanks again for watching my videos.
Thanks for making this content Elie! I would love to see a video explaining how you made your cabbing machines. I am fairly mechanically inclined and have access to the wheels and to the motors but would love to be walked through how you housed it, installed the drip and have a shaft long enough for 3 wheels on each side. Great work and thanks again!
Hi Ethan, and thanks for watching my videos, I will try to make a video showing how I built the cabbing machines but I’m not sure when that will happen so keep checking back, I’ve been too busy lately with other things.
Hello Dana, I usually use dop which is green wax mixed with shellac, this video will show you how it’s done. However, for small stones mainly Opal I use crazy glue, there’s also a video explaining how to use glue, so if you subscribed to my channel you’ll be able to watch all that. But here’s the one for doping. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hHclQvd2Jfs.html
Thank you sir, I've had such a difficult time getting a high polish on my nephrite, I really needed this video. I have leather but I've never tried it on my stones, I've only used felt with cerium oxide. It looks like you used the rough side of the leather, do you think it matters which side or is rough the best in your opinion?
Great workshop you have. I can see the hours in building up those machines, well done ! What sort of black nephrite is that ? I have some black hornblend jade, the quality is variable, sometimes dark grey, sometimes beautiful jet black, always absolutely opaque. Takes an excellent polish but at other times it has a fine fine grainy finish- I can send you a couple of small samples if you like for free. Oh, whats that music titled ? Perfect 🙂
Thank you Vincent, I have no idea what sort of black nephrite is it. I acquired a lot of rocks and Jade from actions during the years without details so I can’t tell about the location. Thanks for the offer but I have a lot of Jade to the point I have them outside in the garden between the trees 😄 The music I’m using it has to be copyright free so I’m only using 3 of them, “44th Street” , “7th Floor Tango” and “End of Summer”. Thanks again for watching my videos!
Yes, I have two channels and they are both the same, when Google bought RU-vid I was locked out and I couldn’t post anything, after few months I had to create a new channel and after that I was able get access to the original channel and since I had followers on both channels I had to keep both the same. For polishing, you can use DiaShine at the end after completing your regular polish, it will give it a super polish.
We have a Cabking 6" with standard wheels it came with. We also purchased the following= 8000, 14000 and 50000 wheels-are these okay to use? Now you made this Tutorial 3 years ago, what types of Polish should we consider using? What do you recommend? Maybe we have one of them. BTW, The Jade That We Have Is So Very Translucent / Transparent, It Is Phenomenal To Us.
For finishing I use 3000 and 14000 wheels then polishing on a flat lap using cerium oxide after that I use 50000 diamond spray on flat felt. For Jade you don’t have to do anything more than shown in my video, the trick is using the worn out 600 silicone carbide dry.
Elie, As usual, great video. Thanks. Just a couple of questions: What if a lapidary only has soft diamond wheels, does the same process apply, i.e. very light water especially for 400 and 600? Also, I have been using Linda A (Aluminum Oxide, for those who don't know) successfully--at least, I think successfully. If you have used Linde A, what sort of success have you had? (Note: I did just discover that ZAM is essentially a combination of Aluminum Oxide and Chromium Oxide.)
John, I'm not sure if I replied to you before or not...In my opinion I don't think the soft diamond wheels will efficiently work but there's no harm of trying. I have Linde A but I didn't use it because I have to change the polishing pad every time ;)
@@ElieGhanimeEG Cute. I know they used hand or foot powered wheels, they still do in China. There is a vid of a guy in Burma (Myanmar) polishing jade on a big flat piece of bamboo. Looks pretty good. I just bought an Olmec Blue Jadeite disc and have to figure out how to polish it or find someone to do it for me.
thank you for sharing. Love the black jade, but I also just don't like green :) My tools consist of a diamond blade hand saw, a totary tool, diamond burrs and sandpaper on a block of wood.. One day I'll get an Auger.. Totally inspired after watching this, time to search for some black jade. Do you know of a cheap country to buy it from? Thx
Thanks for watching my videos, good quality black Jade are very expensive. However, if you google Black Jade you will find a lot of material available. Thx
@@praphaichanthachon2147 only 1kg at the most.. I'm a one person business and would take me ages to get through a kilo. :) It's ok tho, I'm going to do a search for some raw black jade :)
I cleaned a green statue with soap and water but now were it was less polished it look worse than dirty, dont know if it was stone or glass but it is ruined. omg.
