I wish i knew where those samples were from, i would love to try and get some obsidian from that to try and make some more amazing pieces to use for stunning amulets or used as a larger batch to make a full laying pattern art piece such as a shoulder shroud, cape ornamentation, or raining diadem…
@@WorldofRockhounds totally, could you imagine a pirate chest sort of build using a bunch of gems like these to make galaxy dragon scale type patterns across the entirety of it’s surface? Or a larger piece like this formed into a mask? But even these pieces just on their own are amazing and would be hard to ever look away from.
I like the last one the best, but both were beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent and knowledge. Keep the goodness coming. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
I did more than gasp haha But luckily I have a large towel that hangs down and onto the floor to help catch stones that happen to slip :) That smaller stone is something else. Someone else mentioned The Starry Night painting and that's what it reminds me of!
Wow! What beautiful material 🤯. I already watch the Gemstone channel. The gemstone history and composition on there is awesome. Your polishing skills just amaze me. I know I say that all the time but I seriously think you are the best I’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing. Way cool! Stay Crystal 💫 Mari
They're both spectacular! What an amazing polish! Thank you for demonstrating the best way bring out the beauty in a layered piece of obsidian. It's great to see the Gordon's cerium oxide demonstrated on obsidian. I bought some to polish my car windows. They got water deposits on them last summer when my car was left where a sprinkler hit it for a week during the Bootleg fire evacuation. (I hoped to at least have my car if the house burned!) I tried all kinds of remedies and finally discovered Gordon's. I have a polishing pad that attaches to my electric drill. If I can get anywhere near a finish like your obsidian I'll be happy. 😊
Wow! I watched the episode of gemstones and i couldnt see clearly, what they were talking about, when they explained what velvet obsidian was. You really couldnt see the colors! But these are just beautiful! My favorite was the 2nd piece. The blue on one side and the green on the other, both mixed with pinks and purples! Just gorgeous! I had never heard of velvet obsidian before that video and i wasnt really impressed with it until you polished these. You are the King of obsidian. Great video! I was a fan of gemstones channel before your unboxing video, but even more so now! And congrats on your channels growth and now, the sky is the limits! Great job and here is to your future and continued growth!
Thank you! It's amazing what a little bit of sanding/polishing can do to a stone. I was impressed myself on how they turned out. It's hard to determine what a stone will look like in it's rough form. But WOW...they were stunning! But thank you again :)
This is now my favourite obsidian! The colours are amazing!!! WOW. You are the master of lapidary. Great video Kyle. Thanks for sharing. I have to stop drooling now!
I bought 2lbs of velvet obsidian and all I have is a tile saw and a lortone 33b. I've decided to put it on the back shelf until I get the proper lapidary equipment.
Those turned out amazing! I was surprised to see your obsidian on Gemstones channel! Great work Kyle 👍🏼 I was one of the people who did not care about obsidian AT ALL two years ago when I first discovered your channel. I’m definitely getting an appreciation thanks to your channel. Rock on Brotha. Tough for me to pick a favorite it’s all exotic material to me. They were both beautiful!
I didn’t expect the color, wow beautiful! Tuff call on choosing one of the two except for the color variety the small piece offers pending the side you are viewing. Your simple approach to explaining as you go is fantastic! Thank you for sharing, I may just get a piece to polish like yours one day, lol. Iam working with a slant lap and all diamond plates so no padding for curve surfaces. For me a bigger challenge. Thanks again for your posts.
I love both of them. They are just beautiful. As always you knocked it out of the park with that awesome polishing job. You make it look so easy, but it is not.
Congrats on the 4k and growing. You've got some mad skills and that has to feel good when they pay off like that. They don't make this climb easy at all. Great vid!
It appears that you are putting a fair amount of pressure when using the carpet wheel. Is that the case? You get a better polish than I do with 100,000 diamond! You sure do know how to coax the heart of a stone out for all to see! Good work!
Very good observation and thank you! I accidently left out the part were I talked about the amount of pressure that I'm adding to the wheel. Pressure is also key in my step. Not enough to stop the wheel but also not so light where I'm having to sit there for ages. Whenever I've taught classes, I would have the person I'm teaching hold out their hand so I can show them how much pressure I'm adding so they can get an idea of how much weight to apply to the wheel without it being too much or too little.
@@WorldofRockhounds I KNEW you were a master! I have an idea how much to press that stone but does it heat up? I use 2 inch compressed wool pads on a small drill press and I swear your polishes beat mine. You are da man!
