This entire discussion in fact complements the very first book written by a great writer V.S. Naipaul on Pakistan. The book is "Among the Believers" published in the early 1980s. Newsweek had the writer on the front page after the publication. American novelist visited him for an interview in London. What is all this Muslim rage? It's the rage of Muslims of their own incompetence, said Naipaul. The apparatus of the modern state is there but. But. But. But, how the simple people could work it out a modern industrial state remains an issue left up in the air? So, the modern state is an imposition. Men are "ill-prepared. Men are "ill-equipped." Worse, the prophet "has ceased to exist." "Circular debt?" Too complicated for an idle mind.

Resource planning is done by resource planning experts. General economists cannot do that. Transmission and resources must be planned as an integrated system.

My mind boggles to listen Shahid Abasi. He says IPPs are no the problem. the Problem is 80% of these IPPs are owned by political people or their associated companies. The capacity of IPPs is around 42-43 thousands mega watt. Meanwhile our transmission capacity is hardly 24-25k mega watt. The question is who were the planner here after 2013 elections? Even a half brain person would know that there is no use of adding more ipps to system since we dont have the capacity to transmit the energy. Let alone the question of their capacity payment agreements. The irony is all top brass of Pakistan is involved in this, You scratch my back I scratch yours. Shahid Abassi always tries to blame history, management or whatever. Why does he forgets he was part of the status quo. Why didn't he spoke about it back then. BTW if while being in govt you can't perform or raise your voice due to whatever reasons, then what you come for?

Don't forget the sovereign guarantee they gave to these IPPs.

@@bharathfsf3686 Ofcourse why wouldn't they. How else they could make sure never ending dollar harvest from this poor mine. Not to mention 18% guaranteed dollar return. I don't understand what the faak parliament and senate are for, if these kinds of agreements are not discussed in public beforehand.

Problem of pakistan is the attitude. Pakistanis think they deserve more than their means. They dont have the capacity to build power plants on their own but they want free perennial electricity. So it ended up borrowing to build these plants and also they are building roads, highway with foreign money (which is completely absurd). Sure, you cannot be self sufficient in all but you be self sufficient in old age economy. Pakistan dont have means to produce old age economy stuff but speaks of New age economy like Renewable, EV, Digital economy, AI etc. Focus must be there to fix the Old economy sectors first. Build Steel plants, smelters, Boilers, Make tea estate, Grow more sunflower oil than import palm oil, Allow Exploration of land, Build for oil exploration at concessional rates, build auto component industry, Basic electronic manufacturing facility for old age economy, bring more land under cultivation, Build chemical plants, Build pharmaceutical plants, build refinery, electrical machinery, build fruit industry. All these can be implement by rule of law which should be based on merit, Openness
