how dignified to see African American and white service men from navy airforce and army carry their fallen leader to his final alter doing so all in one step quietly with majestic precision and exactness in the pouring rain with no rushed attempt to get to church with hurry. No they slowly carried their senator lending an enormous dignity to this last solemn occasion for the long serving politician.Had he himself witnessed this very moving few moments he would have been creased with humility but would have had the warmest feeling inside.rip senator and God speed till journeys end.The cause endures and the dream will never die . . . . . .

He was only a veteran because old man Kennedy made him enlist in the Army after Ted was thrown out of Harvard for getting caught cheating in a Spanish exam. Typically, money talks so after his enlistment was up Harvard let him back in.

This gives a view of what happened, I went to Arlington and saw his grave about one year and three months after his death, I was a 7th grader at the time of seeing his grave. I had literally just started middle school when he died.

Such a beautiful service for a gentleman who did so much for his country, family and those who had no voice. A true Irish heart, kind and understanding. May he forever enjoy everlasting peace. My brother Pete who passed suddenly (Irish immigrant) used to carry Robert Frost's poetry as he travelled the USA for work in tunnels. Often heard him recite the poem just recited. Blessings galore.

I would say down because of the momentum but I don't know. I watch them carry Coffins at St Paul's cathedral in London with my Heart in my Mouth as they have a Lead Lined Coffin, slippery soles and steps to cope with but they do it.

What's more difficult climbing steps or descending steps? Gravity is the key. Climbing steps is more difficult as gravity will pull the body weight down as descending a series of steps will allow the body to move downward with gravity.

Thank you, Ethel Kennedy. At 20:26, she takes care of the little imperfection that was just going to DESTROY me for the rest of the service. Such a little touch from either a loving sister-in-law or a fellow sorta-OCD sufferer like me. RIP, Teddy.

Fee yes that is so true about Ethel. Ethel is a good woman like Eunice. Ethel is my second favourite Kennedy woman after Eunice. also I read in a book that when Ethel was raising all her kids, she had to clean up after them. The kids never helped their mother clean up. They just let her do all their dirty work. They should be ashamed of themselves. If it was me, oh God, I rather clean up my own mess than letting my own mother do all the cleaning up for me. It doesn't work with me and it never will. Either that or never ever make mess in the house at all. But still, I rather let myself clean up my own mess than my mother cleaning up for me.

Joan was ignored. Left to the side. Married to him for 25 yrs, he was the father of her kids. She campaigned hard for him, in the 60's and 70's. Battling alcoholism (at a time when it wasn't really recognized as a legitimate disease) and a cheating husband, she still was there when he ran for President. She attended the funeral, she should have been in that procession. Unless it was her own choice not to be included, I think it's pretty rotten how they passed right by her coming into the Church and leaving the Church as if she was a nobody. I did notice only her son Ted, Chris Lawford, and Ethel give her a nod of attention but the rest didn't. Joan has a mental illness (alcoholism) and no matter what they may feel for her personally, they should have respected her more in that Church. Pretty rotten.

She was in the procession. Did you not see her with Vicky and his sister, Jean, straightening out the Sacred cloth after the flag was taken off? She was also in the pew BEHIND her children. Idk, but i guess how exes are treated?

There were many family members helping place the Pall on the casket. I used to work for a funeral home and it's such an intimate moment, almost the last thing they do for their loved one. :(

Braveheart Shining light actually all four brothers. One died during the second world war, two died during political events and one from his own illness.

Joseph Kennedy Jr was the one who was supposed to be in the political running for President, but when he died in WWII JFK was the one that his Father chose for to go into politics first. I lived the history. I was 7 years old when President Kennedy died. School was cancelled for 6 days so that everyone could watch the coverage on tv. My Father called it The week the nation cried.

It's probably an organ improvisation of some kind. Possibly a prepared piece or organ voluntary. I don't recognize it and I'm a retired organist. James David Christie did a very fine job on the organ in the service.

Teddy Kennedy was not perfect. And made mistakes like all of us, but if you would be fair about his private life, and his public life in politics, I do believe his good out weigh the bad.

Well, only so much is possible when you have a rich, spoiled entitled kid who peaked at the age of 3, and then thought that, because he was a Kennedy, he could fly a plane at night with a broken ankle and without an instrument rating. And President Clinton calling out the Coast Guard like that. No one else would have rated that kind of service from the government.

Senator Kennedy accompanied Caroline to identify John, Jr's, body on the ship that retreived his, his wife's and sister-in-law's bodies. Such a difficult painful thing to do after so many losses in their family. His wife's parent's lost 2 daughters in that crash..
