@@wwcwcp09 they don't and that's the problem. VA's are a joke. My father in law had flash backs. From trying to come off all the meds they had him on. He went into the VA and they sent him home with more meds including Prozac and he ended up blowing his brains out. He was a Vietnam vet.

You're absolutely correct. I was speaking to my husband about the need for cooperation amongst mental health services and firearm ownership. Instead, what we have is people who are afraid to reach out for mental help because of fear of losing their weapons. I believe that this is the reason for many events like this one. This isn't exclusive to veterans either, many civilians have PTSD, Complex PTSD, depression, etc. When gun owners can feel free to seek mental services without the fear of losing their gun ownership privilege these tragedies will decrease.

From what I see, meth today, is treated like pot was 30 years ago..just under the radar, yet "everyone knows"...I walk into convenience stores and on the shelves are meth pipes and high powered lighters.. just like it was with pot pipes 30 years ago. The thing is, this ain't your Uncles homegrown...were talking about battery acid, match stick heads, gasoline stabilizer, etc.. Drive down to your local Salvation Army at dinner time and again around 2-4 in the morning...zombies literally drooling and mumbling with rags for clothes, wanderingaround. . The men are skeletons riddled with sh.tty tattoos and felonies and the woman look like 'Grimus' from McDonald's. .shaped like a pear...fat around their bellies because their Liver is leaking. I traveled through the southern states these last three years. Meth has Ravaged the south.

More attention needs to be paid to the psychological stability of the aspiring military recruit - before the oath is administered. Plenty of our military personnel, dating back a century, have been in combat, under worse conditions, and not come back like this character. The various media, including the violent video games, wrongfully glorifies war and conflict. The only glory is a well choreographed parade. I'm a veteran NCO, and some of our personnel love the trigger too much. Also, recruiting shouldn't be rewarded simply by meeting or exceeding a "quota". Quality, not just quantity, should be what is strived for. And for those who return the worse for it deserve better care and treatment by their respective service, and the VA. I'll even go so far as to say that the Inter- service Chaplains Corp needs to go back to what it was in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. The Chaplain was almost on the front lines - and in many cases actually were. And they weren't afraid to go right up to a "soldier" and start talking...not worrying about "offending" someone.

Poor troops that go overseas and those who send them sleep all night long without a care - war is only a business

this guy definitely shouldve had the option get mental help before something like this happens. Instead of chalking it all up to him being evil to the core which completely steers responsiblity off the VA which ALMOST NEVER give soldiers the PTSD help they really need after seeing and some cases doing some horrible things overseas.
