Polk Sheriff Grady Judd gives his opinion on the Florida gun bill 

Restricting the law abiding from having guns just makes it safer for criminals. Leniency for criminals is cruelty toward the innocent.

Criminals and evils don't care about open or conceal carry. They simply show up to take lives and/or do harms. Take guns away from law-abiding don't make criminals/evils quit their jobs.

I've lived and carried in 2 USCC states and the adage 'An armed Society is a polite society.' is true. Bad guys are less inclined to be bad guys if they know (or not) that Citizens around them are willing to defend themselves.

I remember my vice principal standing in the parking lot checking out a new shotgun a kid got for his birthday. The kid kept it in his truck in a gun rack(remember those) Nothing strange about it. Lots of people hunt duck and dove and theft was not an issue. The guns were there back then. just like today. It's the people who have changed.

I'm a new resident of the state of Florida (Polk Co) and a new CCW permit holder. It is good to know that I have a Sheriff that supports law abiding citizens that carry firearms for protection. God Bless you Sheriff Judd. I wish that when I lived in California you were my Sheriff there.

Thank You Sheriff Judd! As a 22 year Army veteran and still working for the Department of Defense, I have been a Concealed Carry Permit holder for a good while. I am glad to see law enforcement stand up for the CC rights given to us by God and the 2nd Amendment. I pray I never have to use my firearm to defend myself, a loved one or a complete stranger who is being threatened with losing their life and making the decision to pull the trigger...If you ever get the chance, come over to Citrus County and check out Outpost Range in Lecanto...One of the best! Oh ya, I also remember when a couple of decades ago, the Open Carry Ban that Janet Reno so skillfully lobbied away from us...That was just wrong!

What happens when a student overpowers a teacher and takes their gun, a teacher goes crazy & becomes the mass shooter, a scared teacher pulls a gun on a student they "feel threatened" by? Saying more guns in schools would make students safer is very much the most optimistic outlook anyone could have but it's delusional because it ignores everything that can go wrong.

I am so proud of all the work just the integrity that is within you. I know it have to be so frustrating to be fighting against a failing system, That a bunch of people who themselves or their love ones are in no danger. But they have put all of these laws in place to stop the actual law officials from, efficiently and appropriately protect and serve the people as they have been sworn in to do . Things are changing the laws will change in the favor to actually protect, and serve the people as you are fighting to do . You’ve been standing 10 toes down on your square speaking out, speaking up, giving your expertise because you are the one out on the front line. And you know what’s best we stand with you we stand for you, and we really do appreciate everything that you are doing. You are the example for the whole entire world to see of what a law official look like, the integrity that a law official is supposed to have within them. Just want you to know we support you. I do understand you lock them up where they belong, and then the DAs, the judges, and the lawyers put them right back out on the street, over and over again because they have no integrity. They are taking money & bribes behind the scenes and they will be getting locked up soon!!!!

This law is a joke. It needs to be true Constitutional carry and repeal red flag laws and 18-21 limits on handguns.

The new Sig P-365 is the best selling gun in the country right now, 13 shots, is about the size of the palm of your hand, very concealable, any school employee could carry it concealed and a crazy shooter would never know.

I attended elementary through high school in Seminole County, there were armed resources officers on campus every day. We had one school lockdown the entire time I attended, it was a kid that brought a ROTC drill gun (wooden gun cutout, covered with athletic tape) home to practice with, which was against school policy. Time he set foot on school grounds and was seen, still had made it to campus, to lockdown was less than 5 min.
