You sure right, I watched some videos of pollsmoor prison in SA and I feel as if I was in hell for a short while so I could only imagine how much those in there are suffering, it,s a nightmare to watch more so for those living in it.
By "avoid the lure of gangs", he actually means "Accept the FACT that if you don't join a gang inside prison, you will be a target for violent, non-consensual sexual activity...for your entire sentence."

You are prison but you are studying 😀😀😀😀And ironing . That is far to be called a prison. Only political prisoners can live such life in prisons not ordinary people.
So... I been in there for 2 years... it changed my life I wasn't raped didn't get involved with no gangs, nd I also didn't choose to study cos that was a freak in mission. I never had no visits, no luxuries and I was on maximum section locked up for 23 hours a day. I met some... I'd say very interesting characters. I realised that my freedom is worth more than money. Happiness is worth more than money. The whole prison system is a fuck up. I pray I never have to look at that place again👍

I thought as soon as you arrive for the first time, they question you about where you are from and if you are part of the gang, and if you are not a gang they make you an errand boy. Gives us tips on how to survive in there. Is there a way to avoid the big overpopulated cells by choosing to study?

This is not how pollsmoore prison is. There's no way in hell that he'll get to sleep in his own bed. He's gonna have to sleep on the ground with other inmates. Maybe if he's a rank carrying member yes. But that small cell will still have about 5 other inmates.
Nobody gives a f about you in prison... There is Nobody to talk to about your emotions etc. This video paints it in a very good light. It's 100% not like this
