Diagnose and replace Lambda Oxygen Sensor on a VW Polo 9N 2003. It is the Pre Cat sensor. No. 1 Bank 1. Hope this video helps someone. Please subscribe to my channel! Thank you! : )
Found a genuine Bosch pre cat O2 sensor for my Polo (52 plate, 1.2 12V, engine code AZQ) for £43 on Amazon of all places, not much more than buying a cheap one off eBay, £60 cheaper than the same exact part from Euro Car parts, and around £90 cheaper than the same from GSF, fitted today along with coolant temp sensor and she’s feeling lively again and MOT ready, this video helped a lot just showing me it could be done in a matter of minutes as I’ve put it off for so long. Thank you.
Hi there. I have a question. I have a 2009 9n polo face-lift. My car is extremely heavy on fuel and there is a strong fuel smell in the exhaust. My engine light is off but I'm getting a fault code stating that my mixture is running rich. I had a look at my pre cat and see that it is corroded. I'm from South Africa and I opted for Bosch and only one I could find was VW Universal. Is replacing the 02 sensor the correct thing to do? Or should I check other things?
If the pre cat sensor looks really bad I would replace it, however you need to check the air intake, MAF sensor and MAP sensor. A fault in any of these could cause it to run rich, by telling the ECU that there is too much air, so the ECU compensates for this by increasing the fuel. Like I said earlier, the O2 sensor could also be reporting a lean condition, which again would cause a rich mixture. Replace it first, clear the code and see what happens. Hope this helps.
Hi I would like to ask you something please i have same car as yours but my question is does it happen anytime to you while u driving like 65-70 mile max the car stops , is like something is stopping the car , does this happen anytime to you if u answer me i will appreciate thanks
@@menditwithmick4320 That could be right. I ordered a denso brand which comes with 570 mm of cable. I think it is a decent brand but there are a lot of brands out there.
Hi, please help me understand which sensor I should change. Diagnostics shows the following: Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2, bank 1 - no activity detected HO2S circult insuffcient Bank 1 Sensor 2. I have two computers and it shows differently. On a PC where there was a program in English, it showed as I wrote above. On another one, which shows in Russian: the oxygen sensor heating circuit does not work (bank 1, sensor 1). My question is, what kind of sensor will there be if two PCs show both number 1 and number 2??? Thank you.
Hi The oxygen sensor monitors the amount of oxygen going out through the exhaust. If it is bad or not connected, the air/fuel ratio will be disrupted causing the engine fuel mixture to be too lean or too rich. This can result in misfires, poor acceleration and intermittent loss of power. If the wires are broken, try and join them back together. Both black cores together, both grey cores together and the white cores together. Hopefully that should do it. If not, a cheap OBD2 tool should tell you which one is bad. No.1 is at the top of the manifold before the catalytic converter and No.2 sensor is on the exhaust pipe underneath the catalytic converter. Thanks for your question and I hope this helps. Cheers Mick
@@menditwithmick4320 thank you very much. I've checked the price the part is cheap and looks very easy to replace. Alot of these issues it causes sounds exactly like her cars issues so I think I'll get it ordered and done. The wire going into the metal sensor has started to come away and fray. Shame I can't link a picture Thank you 👍
Hello The plug is female. Just squeeze the plastic tab in and pull out the plug. The male socket remains in place. Just be careful not to snap off the retaining tab. I will post on here with the part number. I got mine from euro car parts. I have uploaded an update to this video which you should watch. Cheers Mick
