I think I would have recognized this as a Norwegian tune even without seeing the title because of the way it flirts with the lydian mode. This is something I wouldn't have known just a few months ago, and it's all because of your channel - I had never heard Norwegian traditional music before then. Thanks for another great tune!
Fantastic. Forgive my ignorance, but is that a Polska? And in any event what time signature? So different from Western European trad. Beautiful fiddling too. Clear, precise. Thanks for sharing ;-)
Pols and Polska are related, but are not the same dance :) Pols is Norwegian, Polska is Swedish. The differences can be quite subtle, though, and you could just as well dance polska to this tune here if you wanted. Time signature is 3/4 with the accents on 1 and 3. Look at Sigrids foot, she's marking the 1s and 3s throughout the whole video with her stomps, which is quite common. Takes a bit of getting used to, especially if the musicians/the tune plays around with the timing of the 2 a lot. But here it's quite "straight".
