There is also a very good and well known player here, CDs and classes, she went to learn in Sweden, 1990s I think, if you want to look her name is Eleanore Billy
Superb playing! And something new to listen to, only uploaded the other day. And I've never heard it before! But as I'm not Swedish it's not surprising! Who is it by? I hope there are other pieces, I'm noting your references to be able to look out!
Thanks for listening! The piece is after a fiddle player, who was called Hultkläppen. His real name was Pehr Abrahamsson Hult Alcén (1834-1898) and he lived in Hälsingland, a province in Sweden.
Seems to me that "Nyckelharpatunes" plays this too. Do you know him? Have you met him in your Facebook journeys? He seems to be quite young, telling from his hands and neck!! ? As it's all we see. He plays very well indeed. He has a Sahlstrom nyckel, I sometimes wonder if he's his grandson! And I've noticed that since September and classes restarting he doesn't post any more videos!
I don't know anything about the person behind the name "Nyckelharpatunes" but as you say, he is talented. And probably a younger person. He also appears to be playing a nyckelharpa, made by Eric Sahlstöm.
Going to listen to it e few times so that it will find me easily, and not too difficult, I can put it on my "not too hard list" of pieces to try, only had a nyckel for 2 months. Made by our very good maker at Mirecourt, Vosges, north east France, Jean Claude Condi, he's made them since 1980s, and even some well known Swedish players have one of his! Now there are maybe nearly 500 Nyckelplayers in France.
