With the liberation of women, technology, and cultural progress (some might say regress), why would anyone want to be monogamous? Minus the ego and Disney brainwashing, it only makes sense esp when we use sex as a form of pleasure and not strictly to ensure paternity.
Just like money, sex and intimacy should be decentralized. We can raise our kids in large communities, I think this would end a lot of nepotism/tribalism we see in the country. People would share deeper connections more widely. It would be a more peaceful and productive society.
It’s normal for monogamous couples to have other strong relationships with people outside of a marriage. It’s ok for monogamous couples to share a core belief that sexual coupling is a sacred and extremely intimate thing that is exclusive to the marriage.
I've come to the realization that monogamy is humanity clinging to the past. Why would anyone do it? It's like being on a diet for a lifetime. Sure you can discipline yourself, but even people have cake every once in a while?

the only problem I could see with this is if a large majority of men got left behind and felt like outsiders looking in on all the fun like 50 percent of guys were having with like 80 percent of the women. Though I'm unsure how much of hypergamy is nature vs nurture.

I think this is bulls***! Look up the percentage of open relationships (92%) divorce rate...look up polygamy marriages, most wife's are unhappy and kid's are unhappy. We can't love just equal...you will always like one person more. But hey, good luck for those who practise this
