Best nail prep video period bc she tells you how to prep without all the fancy products and tools. Ive been looking for a video that explains how to prep without buying a fancy dehydrator. I've been a huge nail career with suzie and a naio nail video fan but this girl has won me over!

I remove dead skin then use a Russian cuticle bit to get anything I might have left then I put on 2 coats of clear polish then buff into the polish to create scratches instead of buffing my nail. I don't get lifting and acrylic or nail glue does not go directly on my nail.

I loooove how u go into the details! I’ve just started off with poly gel, on myself and my mom, and you are my most favourite to watch and learn! I’m happy with my progress except for the lifting that I was so disappointed to see after 10 days! 😨 so I. Watching this video especially to fix that problem. I love Ali Express and have gone ham ordering nail stuff 😂 I’m looking into getting an e file and would appreciate a recommendation please. A video would be fantastic! I’m sure there are many who feel the same. Thanks again , you are a treasure! Lots of love from Mumbai India 🇮🇳

I really appreciate how clear spoken, down-to-Earth, & real you are! I know you made this 5 years ago, but I've just discovered polygel & this is such a helpful tutorial! I love how you break everything dow step-by-step, talk about your mistakes & triumphs, & that you show both 'low budget/use the basics' & 'higher end/I've got the $ to invest/I've been at this a while' tools, products, & methods. This & your 'start a polygel kit' tutorials are must-watches for any polygel beginner IMHO. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

I have one tip for those who have no drill. Get a rose stone cuticle pusher. It looks like a rubber hoof cuticle pusher but it's made of pink stone. I use that to get rid of stubborn, tough cuticles. As Nikki said, clean the sidewalls of the nail |_| and get rid of any rough skin there as well. In fact, I use the stone to gently scrub the nail plate to create a rough surface for the polygel /acrylic to adhere. This is good for people who have no drill, people who have a drill but to scared to use it, people who have a drill and not enough experience 🙋‍♀️, and people who have damaged nails through over filing. Yes, compared to using a drill, it does take longer. However, I use the time to slow down, really examine my nails, and, appreciate them! Nikki, Can I also take the opportunity to say that I love your videos. It's very informative, fun and very much appreciated. Thank you. Best to you my namesake! Lol Nikki

Thank you for the great info! Now I know why my nails burn so bad after doing my nails, the PRIMER. I must have an allergic reaction, and not sure how too fix this problem. Nailed by Nikki Absolutely! You know when you take an island vacation you’re going to be in the water, a lot! Haha. People would ask me, “oh love your hair! Is it yours?” Technically it is because I paid for it. 😜Or “My gosh, how long did it take?” Or “who did your braids, does it hurt?” Lol I told my hubby I need a T-shirt that answered all this questions. “Yes, it’s my hair, 5 hours, a couple of sisters, hurts at first!” They were down to the top of my bum, but I cut them to mid back when we got back. And my husband helped me take it out after a couple of months. My hair looked like cotton candy! 🤦🏼‍♀️🥴

For making the dehydrator use alcohol (the strongest % you have... the more concentrated the better) and mix it half alcohol half acetone. That makes your dehydrator When doing the polygel nail just use 50% alcohol 👍🏽 You got this hunni! Polygel nails at ANY AGE!!

I was taught to never use an electric drill on the natural nail and I still preach that. You can seriously damage your nail bed if you're not careful. I've seen it happen too many ti,es. I usually handfuls the natural nail bed then use the drill after product is applied and finished.

Great advice 😋 some people rush just to move client to client or have the speed way to high and cause injury

I feel like no matter what I do to prep and prime, my nail is just going to end up lifting or straight up falling off my dang fingers because I’m a nail biter, There just isn’t enough nail bed for the poly gel to rest it’s ass on and I think that’s the problem with me and using poly gel. Would you have any advice for nail biters with smaller nail beds? My whole point of getting a poly gel kit was so that I could stop biting my nails but they last only about 24 hours and the second they’re off I’m back at it. Any advice at all to help keep those puppies stick firmly onto my nail would be highly appreciated.

What primer are you using? Also change the base coat to a rubber base gel base and see if they helps

Whats your thought of rubber base coat instead of primer

Only if the base coat says specifically no primer needed... however *I always use primer* I never have lifting and I just am afraid to do my nails workout it

Does a base coat work the same as a primer? Like if a poly gel nail kit comes with a base coat, would need to use a separate primer?
@NailedbyNikki
@NailedbyNikki 4 года назад
Yes. You need primer. You can check link in description box to Amazon storefront or try your local beauty supply store. Without primer the nails will lift

Hello again ☺ so I do have a question as I am doing my first set of polygel. I have the gelish ph bond and also the gelish foundation polish (I usually just do gel polish manicures at home ) will this work or do I need purchase the separate primer ? Thanks in advance. Love your videos so much.
@NailedbyNikki
@NailedbyNikki 5 лет назад
That will work just fine! you can also use the Gelish base coat just as you normally would, but instead of adding a color you add the polygel. Good question

I have a clear yayoge tube, two UR Suger tubes, a small tube of acrylgel and a tube of Born Pretty. The Born Pretty is the only one that states it’s a soak off. Which one should I start out with? I also have the dual forms, tips, and the sticker forms that you wrap around your finger. Which should I start with as a beginner. I did notice that the dual forms aren’t big enough for some of my nails. I have larger natural nails. When applying normal fake nails, I would need to use the size 0 for my thumbs but the size 0 in the dual forms aren’t big enough to cover my nail so should I go with using tips? I’m just not a big fan of gluing fake nails on my natural nails but if that’s what I have to do, I will. My husband is a licensed cosmetologist so I’m able to go to supply stores and get professional products for fairly cheap. I’ve always had a passion for doing nails and have always just did my own natural nails but I could never get them to grow as long as I wanted them to be cuz they would break as soon as they reached a certain length. As far as fitting the tips or forms, should I file the sides of my natural nails? My husband doesn’t do nails, only hair so he doesn’t really know too much about any of this stuff. I am very good with painting nails and doing designs and such just not extensions cuz I’ve never done them or had any interest in them until recently. I really love the stiletto and coffin shape but my natural nails don’t grow long enough to do that style so I definitely need to do the extensions. I also have the CND building gel but haven’t tried it yet....I heard it’s harder to work with than the polygel though...so once I’m proficient with polygel then I’ll start practicing the builder gels. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE your feedback and suggestions!! You definitely seem to know what you’re talking about and everything to do and not to do! I’m extremely impressed by you and your videos. I definitely subscribed and hit the notification bell so I’ll know whenever you upload a new video. I’ll be binge watching a lot of your videos today! Lol
@NailedbyNikki
@NailedbyNikki 5 лет назад
of the PG that you mentioned I have only tried yayoge... I love the consistency of it... but if the born pretty one is soak off I would say start there. dual forms are def. the easiest way to go... if you do not have a large enough dual form then you can purchase some here www.amazon.com/shop/nailedbynikki or use a paper form for the thumb. As far as actually doing the application, watch the video that comes after this and it should be helpful hunni 😘

One more question for you, should I use the slip solution or just regular 70% alcohol? I’ve seen mixed reviews with some saying alcohol is the best and others saying only use the specific slip solution. What’s your suggestion/recommendation? I do have both products

I usually use dehydrator, then ibd bonder then base coat..... what are your thoughts on that??
@NailedbyNikki

That is perfect... the bonder is a primer so you are doing it right... I will make a video on the different primers soon... acid primer, non acid primer and bonder😉

Would you also reccommend using the base coat after the primer before the polygel?I have 2 in 1 base and top coat that I used when I only did gel polish,no polygel and I dont know whether I should use it for polygel as well?Thanks for replying. :)
@NailedbyNikki
@NailedbyNikki 4 года назад
Use primer then basecoat then polygel Not a 2 in 1. Just a regular gel base these work best for polygel and they come w the kits

@NailedbyNikki
@NailedbyNikki 5 лет назад
yes ma'am you can cut those full nails to make tips! save your money and use what you have! Also for every nail enhancement you want to use a primer! the primer is what makes your nail sticky so the enhancement will stay on without lifting or popping off the next day.
